I wish I could take some of that away for you. I'm a practical kind of person. I give hugs, but then I'll try to give you ideas on what to do, too. From your post, it sounds like you are seeing a doc. Although not as dramatic a feeling, some herbals can give the same effect as xanax such as valerian and cammomile (sp). I assume you are taking other meds. Be sure to talk to your pharmacist to be sure herbals aren't interacting with current meds. It also sounds like life is getting pretty overwhelming. It doesn't help when you can't relax, and I am guessing you also have the insomnia and "brain fog" that goes with fibro. I am going to suggest that you find a good therapist with some training in deep relaxation hypnosis. This doesn't put you completely "under" but it does get to the subconscious to start giving suggestions to help. No, I'm not suggesting that you're nuts, but because some of the newer techniques being used in therapy settings are having some dramatic results with fibro. When the body is constantly tense (and you definitely are), it aggravates the fibro. I would also suggest that you ask your doc about Tramadol. This is a non-narcotic pain med that is also relaxing similar to the xanax. It is non-habit forming. But, because 1-2 people in clinical trials got a "happy" feeling, docs believe it can be mis-used. So, you may need to have some frank discussions with him about your pain level. Currently, docs are so closely monitored for any narc prescription (xanax or pain relievers) so they have to justify every script to the DEA. So, try some other remedies. I also recommend that you begin a definite program of meditation. Take at least 30-mintes/day to relax to calm music, aromatherapy, etc. Not only will this help the jittery feeling, but has also shown helpful with the fibro, too. So, I understand and empathize with what you're going through. But, get busy and start taking care of yourself! Talking about it is very courageous and many here can also give more ideas! I'm totally with you-dah... you could try Yoga meditation and breathing relaxations... you need to de-stress and take time for yourself. You could also check out "brainstate" for the bi-polar ..... I can't make any claims for it but the site and research they have done seem really interesting... It is all about balance eh! I wish you every success in healing yourself... I hope the journey your illness takes you on leaves you a stronger happier person. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
