Watching TV typically puts us in a state of what we call "hypnosis". Deep states of trance distort our perception of time, or takes off to fantasy worlds. TV combined visuals and auditory sensory inputs provides ideal media to put us into trance (providing we are relaxed when watching)
Media advertisers know full well how gullible we are to advertising even when we think we are not!

Any medium or thing that gets you into a "daydreaming" stage would put you into hypnosis.
