Hello Spookchild.
Of course you can use of hypnosis very effectively and very efficiently to reduce your weight.
But telling you not to do something won't work in hypnosis. The unconscious mind does not understand the negative part of any sentence. Don't tell it what you don't want. Do tell it what you do want. For example I am now becoming slim trim and brimfull of energy. I am happy with my new slimming body and my new slimming appearance. I'm doing all that is necessary to be slim and healthy permanently.
Now you've got to address your eating habits. We are all subject to hypnosis every day. Every time we turn on the TV we are listening to advertisements that tell us what are basically lies. We we are usually in a receptive hypnotic mode. And those suggestions are very powerful. So further tell yourself that you are not longer influenced by TV advertising for food.
All cereals are fattening regardless of what you've been told by the so-called experts. They have a vested interest in making money. As far as they're concerned you are a consumer. And consumers are meant to consume regardless of the consequences to the body shape and size. All breads cakes and cookies are highly fattening. The story you have been spun about calories has no scientific basis and is a load of rubbish. It's another way of making money. Anything that says no fat, Slimline, our diet is fattening. The big lie is the reversal of the truth. It also makes lots of money from those who wish to consume. Carbohydrates are fattening. The distinctions they make between simple and complex carbohydrates is a lot of rubbish and design to misinform you can fool you into believing that by eating what they want you to eat is going to make use them. It'll make you fat and their bank accounts fatter. It's all about the bottom line.
I suggest you get a copy of "The Protein Power Plan" by Michael R Eades M. D. and Mary Dan Eades,M. D. It is a wonderful resource for and slamming.I highly recommend.
That and your self hypnosis and of course you're exercising will work wonders and we will soon see a slim new you with a big smile in your face .
I wish you every success.

I have often wondered if the hypnosis for weight loss worked. I think that with this type it would be like any type of hypnosis, meaning how willing and open you are to the power of suggestion needed to make hypnosis successful.
