First of all, please allow me to offer my sincere condolences to you having gone through the loss of a sibling myself, though in considerably more peaceful setting.
The more you ask around, the more reasonings and explanations you may risk running into.
When we are born into a family, it is not some random gene pool experiment that we happen to run into and become a part of! There are sequences leading into that situation. Rinanubandhan is the technical term used in certain philosophies. Translated simply the word means the bondage of debts or inter-individual commitments due now, as in this lifetime!
When dues are not completely discharged, we are again brought together, though not in the same relationship as before.
I feel very strongly that you and your sibling will be together again, in what may seem a long time from current perspective, but not so perhaps from another perspective.
You don't have to passively wait for that to happen but you can prepare for that joyous moment. There must be projects and wishes that your brother left unfinished. See if you can pick one or two of those and do your best to bring them forward and perhaps even to fruition. I can assure you that you will feel his presence by your side and feel loved.
