Nowadays, our local GPs have become a mini plastic surgeons of sorts. They practice Botox, mini facelifts using Thermage and mesotherapy. But how save is it having things done by a normal GPs. They are wonderful for the common cold and other family related diseases but are they equiped for the more complex world of beauty!??? Of course the prices they charge are about 20% cheaper than plastic surgeons but are they trained to administer such stuff? .

Well...

I am basically a GP. I have my own a quite big beauty clinic in Jakarta and have a dermatologist and a plartic surgeon work for me in the clinic as well.

But Actually not every dermatologist and plastic surgeon is trained to do Aesthetic Medicine techniques you mentioned above.

To practice Aesthetic Medicine, either you are a GP, a dermatologist or a plastic surgeon,you would have to attend a training in cosmetic medicine, because you would not get such training in university.

I attended several trainings in Cosmetic Medicine in USA,Australia, France, and Germany.Currently I am also a member of Australasia Cosmetic Medicine Society, Indonesian Mesotherapist Association, Indonesian Aesthetic Medicine Society,World Federation Of Acupuncture and Meridian Society, Indonesian Board of Acupuncture and Meridian,Indonesian Board Of Hipnotherapist.

I have also attended 2 years post graduate program in Acup and chinese medicine in Shanghai China and 6 months training of Aesthetic Medicine in Germany.

I think, the most important thing is that you have to ask your practitioner where they were trained and see their certificates .

I hang most of my certificetes on my office's wall and ask the other practitioners work in my clinic to hang their certificates on their office's wall as well.
