it is very interesting isn't it! and if your not careful you can really boggle the mind!
you had that feeling of the crash because of your intuition. yes, the real question of how it all works remands unanswered with a lot of theories.
let me give an example of something i've felt, especially when it comes to driving... i was coming home from work and had this real strong feeling just to get off the freeway and i mean like, NOW! (It was one of my strongest feeling i have ever had). i had one exit before i reached my exit and i didn't listen to that feeling and stayed on the freeway. and just over the hill, past the exit, was three lanes of dead traffic. it add 15 minutes extra drive time for me. if i would have listened to my intuition i would have gotten off the freeway and avoided it all. but i did feel it and had a choice to follow one road or another.
as i said i don't believe in the predestination so i tend to believe the universe and it's energy is random, although can be controlled at times. now, through our intuition we tend to see those random things. We make our own future by choosing the roads (path) we drive (walk) everyday.
getting back to your question, as you said, "then what are those feelings we get before something happens?" I know me saying, "it's intuition!" doesn't answer you question but i am just trying to put a name to those feeling we have. I am not sure what they are but it is the question of the day isn't it!
