What kind of commitment does one look for in a relationship??? How would you define it? And where would you draw the line???

And then there is....have they signed the commitment papers yet?  LOL

Commitment is a big word and in this era of me first and only, it has been lacking exercise in our lives.  Commitment means we commit ourselves - no one else can do or make that decision for us - we must feel we are committed to the situation (marriage comes to mind, but it can also be to a goal or job)

Commitment is putting all of our being into the situation.  We do not look for other solutiions because the situation holds the answers we need to be happy, healthy and well.

Commitment can also be related to sincerity, respect, love, and many of the finer qualities we seek in our lives.

with the puja days coming, i was going through some of the Tagore poems. i can quote a couple of lines from a poem in the 'Puja' (devotion) section. i guess that gives an idea of the kind of commitment that one may seek.


ami tarei jani tarei jani, amay je jon apon jane
tari daane dabi amar, jar odhikar amar daane

Je amare chinte pare shei chenatei chini tare
eki alo chenar pothe tar prane ar amar prane."

I know Him, I do know Him, who endears me as His very own
I do demand His gift, and He has His right in mine.
I know Him just as how He knows me
The same light of recognition shines the hearts - His and mine.

strong and truthful commitment that doesn't change with time. that's the kind of commitment people usually look for.

Yes, when we stay committed, even through all the changes that life brings.  As we grow and change, sometimes the committment we made in one evolution, does not stand the test of evolution in another direction.
