I guess it's fear..  But I've had a crush for some time now and I am questioning why I am so shy around them.  I avoid any eye contact and only look at them when it's safe.  Is it that I've projected all of these false perfect pictures of him and I'm afraid to know the truth so I stay in this illusion.  I wonder and wonder.  It now seems like he may be doing the same thing.  What happens when we have crushes and why do we get so shy and avoid them instead of the opposite?  I guess it all depends but I am curious..

Mostly it depend on our own insecurity, and the fear to be rejected,  many have it, including me in my youth...well maybe still

If we manage to build our own self-confidence, such thing will become much easier, and the pain, if rejected, might be lessen...so that must be a goal for most of us

I have found meditation to give good benefits, to realize that the world will not collapse if we are defeated now and then, to understand that if we want something, then we must also try to reach for it, the more we do so, the easier it become...but it takes determination to start.

I forgot one important reason for such thing also.

Tradition is also an important factor, and If one live in a male dominant society, where one from birth are learned up to respect the male, and then let him have the initiative.

Of course we will still get crush, but the Tradition will "prevent" the female to take the first step, even if self security is good, so my above answer was on assumption that Tradition had no such limits.

Awwwwh crushes are so painful! But are they really just a crush or is it the first fluttering or stirring of wanting to have a relationship with that person? The blushing, batting of eyelashes and coy giggles all can be very attractive and so let the other person know you are interested. Its part of the 'mating dance' really, all animals have it and humani too, enjoy the excitement and the fun of the chase. This is where with kids its your best friends that runs to the person and says "my mate fancies you!" and it all goes on from there.

Good luck xxxx
