He believes that astrology can be used as a very effective tool in lifestyle management. By applying a scientific approach one can determine the bad phases and with the help of shlokas, the impact of the negative forces can be reduced
Astrology, over the years, has been man's attempt to understand and overcome the fear of the unknown. But with astrologers growing by their numbers, people who treat astrology as a science are concerned that it will end up as a business interest.
Vedic scholar and astrologer M Valliappan is one such person who jokes that he got into astrology after being conned by several local astrologers.
A family member of the well known AVM productions and a part-time music director, he has studied astrology in great detail for the past two decades or so.
Having travelled extensively around the world, he has been an ambassador for Indian astrology. He also studied the KP astrology system, which was conceived and created by the great Indian astromancer, late Prof K S Krishnamurti.
Valliappan explained the KP system to Metrolife saying, "The KP system gives importance to the constellations /stars / divisions of the zodiac; it divides each constellation /
nakshatra division into a further nine subdivisions called 'Subs'.
“These sub divisions are not equal divisions, but are as per the Vimshottari Dashas Divisions System. These divisions are then further broken down to 249 parts, thus giving a very precise reading to a particular lagna."
A strong believer that astrology is a science, he expressed his concern over people being misled by 'quack' astrologers who instruct people to visit temples and conducting pujas to get rid of negative force..
"It’s disturbing to see people getting exploited, it is very necessary for people to check on the astrologer's background before consulting. As an astrologer one has to be of service to the people."
He believes that astrology can be used as a very effective tool in lifestyle management. By applying a scientific approach one can determine the bad phases and with the help of shlokas, the impact of the negative forces can be reduced.
As an astrologer he never sees a client more than once and fails to understand why astrologers entertain people who keep coming back with more queries. He hopes to see astrology bloom into a fully accepted science in the near future.
