If we go in a daily routine, do our normal thing on good and bad, then yes our thoughts will also go in circles from good feelings to bad feelings, and maybe the wish for a better life.
If we only tell our mind that we shall not think such "bad thoughts", then it helps for those 5
minutes when you focus on this, but will arise again when the bad situation again occur.
In order to make a change to the thought pattern, we need to change our view on the situation that make us get "lousy" thoughts.
The first thing is to learn is to love ourselves....to find self security.....this way you learn that you aren't the problem...or maybe that you by those and those action make those and those thing to happen, and this you can change.
We can seldom manage to change the behavior of people around us, to our liking, but by understanding why thing happen, we might avoid much of the negative.
It is also a very good idea to not go into an argument, if we know that the person we will argue with, seldom listen to reason anyway.
I recommend Meditation on any problem that bother us.
By thinking it over in a calm and relaxed situation, many thing can be enlighten around the situation, which again will help next time a similar situation come up.
Since it is very hard to change other persons, we must change our self, and the way we think, in order to brake a thought pattern
