I agree. But if I'm not mistaken, I didn't say peace, but unity. Christianity has brought unity to Europe--& I think the European Union is the result of it. So with Islam, it has brought unity to the Arabs--& they  had once became the world leading empire.
But with unity, comes the dark side. Though not a European, I am a Wiccan; & I know from the history of Europe how Wicca had been banished from the earth, through Inquisition & the so-called Witch Hunt--& for me who lived in Indonesia, I almost can feel how the Dark Ages' Wiccan had felt, 'cause the condition here quite resembles that of Dark Ages Europe, & that's why sometimes I envy you guys who lives in a country where there is enough respect for Human Rights. But when Christianity began to entering Europe, the sages, like Merlin, never oppose it. I think that because the sages knew that it was a new consciousness for the Europeans. Just like my condition. I used to regret for being born here, but then I realize, if only The Goddess had not made me born in this country, my spirituality wouldn't be as it is now--if only I was born in a Western Country, most likely I will never give any damn care for spirituality, for I will just enjoying my wordly life.
To me, the God, Gods, Godesses, actually is the same. I call it The Supreme Mind, & The Supreme Mind is energy. I heard also a priest--my teacher for religious class at my school--long long time ago said something resembling that of Qabalah : That God contains everything & nothing exists outside It.
About the different kinds of gods--also different names, isn't it like the sound of a gun? The blasting sound is also energy, & how it is sound? In my country it is often called "Dor", in yours I think it's often called "Bang"; & there are still many words for it. Which is the right one?
That's what the "kindergarten" followers of polytheism failed to comprehend. And that actually is the main point of monotheism. In Europe, it took thousands of years for the Europeans to finally began to apply it--& it's still a long road to perfect comprehension.
NB : I've seen a documentary movie about Beslan Siege. There's something interesting in it when a mother asked to a female terrorist, "What kind of god that you woshipped?" By doing what they have done, the terrorists have made their One God to be just  a local god.
The main problem, I think, is organization. Anything organized must have certain rules, laws, etc. But as result, an organization is always at stand-still, cannot grow. It never can accept anything outside it. 'Cause if it can, it wouldn't be organization, would it?
I myself never want to become a member of any organized spirituality. My Guru has his own Ashram, but I always reluctant to become its member. The solution is, my Guru made me into some kind of adeptus exemptus(exempt adept).

Because to religious fundamentalists everything beyond their understanding is evil and that justifies any action they may take in their mind, it alleviates them of responsibility. Religions are about power and using fear to control people. Mysticism or psychic ability takes power away from the religious elites and puts it in the hands of the individual. If anyone can have a personal spiritual connection or find their own answers then what need is there of churches, priests and their various dogmas? It is the common practice of the ruling class of any totalitarian organization to claim exclusivity and eliminate anyone who suggests otherwise, thus all the wars, inquizitions and witchhunts, it's as simple as that.

Actually there is nothing simple about religion and its many faces.

In the modern world there are religions that allow for individualism.  There are little to no rules of dogma and creed.

There is no longer the rule of fear but of love.  God is love and exists where love exists.

The fact is that religion exists to give someone a place to come together with other God centred individuals and find their paths to spirituality.  After all, life is all about spirituality - with or without religion - and religions can (if they so choose) be at the forefront of this journey or they can impede it.  They are in a position where they need to choose and hopefully it will be wisely.

Religion itself does not preclude the journey of any individual soul.  As long as God is at the helm we all have opportunities for growth and understanding of spirituality.

That is really good food for thought there. I agree. I also believe a lot of it is because many of the major religions today exist to hold people back in fear. Through the use of fear and using such characters as the devil these religions can control people. In controlling these people they do not understand themselves. It becomes a means for keeping certain people in power in that position. Whatever means by which a person does something should be rooted in love and not in fear.

I agree whith that. Many religious use the fear for controlling people. When one person is with a lot fear  this person is very easy to control. In may opinion this religions are not true raligions

About 10 years ago, a thought flashed into my mind, which now i realized that it came from the energy realm, from Faerieland.
It was about the "mysterious" number 666. When that "flashed thought" came, my mind was attracted to what is mentioned in The Book of Revelation; that is about 3 & a half ages. It's in The Book of Revelation chapter 11. I quote here the verse 2 & 3:

2 But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.

3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.
(My great thanks to Sacred-texts.com <http://sacred-texts.com>. The full chapter can be read here-->http://sacred-texts.com/bib/kjv/rev011.htm)

Based on that verse, i got here the number 1260. 1+2+6+0=9. 9 becomes the main number. Then, i used that number to multiply the "one thousand two hundred & threescore". For the result must be one digit, any 'more than one digit' result must be added 'till only one digit is left.
1 x 9 = 9
2 x 9 = 18; 1 + 8 = 9
6 x 9 = 54; 5 + 4 = 9
0 x 9 = 0
Seeing the result, there are 9, 9, 9[0 not counted]=999. Reverse it, & there will be 666.
What i have explained is not meant to be the absolute truth. But, perhaps it can add something to one's knowledge.
Whether true or not--based on my interpretation above, i think John The Beloved has received a vision about what is going to happened in the far future, including in our time, right now. That 42 months(1260 days) is the same as the length of Jesus Christ's earthly service, which lasted for 3 & a half years. So Jesus, his teachings & anything related to him is symbolized by 999. But the misinterpretation, & the MISUSE of it is symbolized by the reversal: 666.
That misuse, The Beast was clearly seen in Dark Age Europe, through Inquisition & also in The Crusade War; though many aspect of it like the restriction of women, war in the name of God, religious inclusiveness, has occured since the dawn of Christianity. And that dawn begun not from Jesus, because Jesus Himself never considered his teaching as something inclusive, something organized. When once His apostles came & told Him about some guys who had used Jesus' name for Exorcism, & they have forbid them to do so, Jesus told His apostles that anyone that not against us means they're with us.
In our time now, the tragedy of September 11th has changed the face of the world forever. Based on what i know, perhaps quite well--'cause i live in a country with greatest Moslem population in the world, Islam was brought to the Prophet Mohammed by the Angel Jibril--Arabic spelling for Gabriel, the Angel who played important role around the birth of Jesus Christ; which make Islam also related to the number 999. So, terrorism nowadays is the full re-appearance of The Beast & as the same as Inquisition in Dark Age Europe & The Crusade War, & these three had been seen through vision by Apostle John in the Isle of Patmos.

Yes.....I have heard, and read about a lot of such investigation where we use different tools to reach "hidden meanings"

The question is if these result have any meaning for other then the one who search for these hidden meanings.

For me it is more a proof that we can't blindly take one system (number, tarot, astrology and so on) and think we get out the ultimate truth....mostly we get what we our self seek, because we our self fit our "narrow"questions into the finish result, which might have a much wider view....or not have been an answer at all.
The reason why religious fanatics say mystical practices are "evil"
