To Link or not to link…that is the question
MysticBoard.com has a policy that link are not allowed in post or signatures.
If such services are of interest, then one has to contact site owner for an agreement.
Normally, we allow Link to subject that are discussed, and are a natural for its comprehension.
Why do we not allow, “working links”?
Because there is a security risk, and the more we allow our members to post links, the more we become used to click on them without a second thought.
Behind a link, with any title, can it be hided a lot of things.
By accepting a link, you might get installed spy ware, virus, Trojan’s and so on.
People are even paid to infect such thing on your PC :(
A link to site, which has a service, can contain information that gives the poster a fee for each Sale (S)he produces.
A link can be a promotion of own services, and fishing for new members.
And a lot of other scenarios can be pictured.
Now…I don’t want you to get panic….I just want you all to give it a thought, and to try to show a bit moderation in using them.
It is clear that we allow much more from a member who has long standing, then from one who are new to the site.
Many times we can give the same information, by ref to the site in question, like…Have you visit Mysticboard.com?
This way people who find your question of interest, might put “MysticBoard.com” direct into their search field and get the option to visit.
They have then shown a genuine interest to visit, not just given a “thoughtless click” on a link.
So bottom line is that a link can be both good and bad…let us try to keep the good in it
