Money is not just in the currency notes, it is something to do with attitudes. Money is love of things, money is escape from persons, money is security against death, money is the futile effort to control our life.
Money is material love -- love of things, love of possessions, not of persons, not of humanity.
For people who are after money, money is the goal, love becomes just a means. Even their prayer is for money; even prayer becomes a means to money.
Money is a extremely complex phenomenon. Why do people get so much into it, and they are not small in numbers ???? It has a certain appeal, a magnetic appeal. Money definitely has a hypnotic appeal in it and the appeal is that one can possess it completely without any resistance. Money becomes a slave. The ego feels very fulfilled.
On the Contrary love can't be possessed , can only flow out of being...
Law of ordinary economics fail for love, because in love the more one gives ,the more one gets, although lover never aims to have something back...
Because love has no conditions attached to it ,the lover is happy that someone has accepted his love ,rather than accepting something back

Amanushji,
I will add to what you have written through my personal experience with Saints. I met a Saint in Assam. He ate nothing. He only Drank Coconut Water (In Assam they call it Dabh) throughout year but refrained from drinking that too for 9 days at a go, 4 times a year. He is the son of an extremely rich person, Gold Medallist in English and renounced all wealth and became a Sanyasi at a very young age. Can you tempt him with money?
I met another Saint who would only drink juice of Green Grass and Bail ka patta ( it is a leaf of Bail ) which is available everywhere in the jungles. He would not eat Ann i.e. Wheat or Rice. When he came to our house he would drink only Milk or take Fruits and even that caused indigestion because he is not used to such food.
Then another Saint I heard about from one of my relatives. Somebody presented this Saint with a piece of Diamond and asked for favour. The Saint simply threw this Diamond in the lake nearby. When this person ran to pick up the Diamond he saw the lake full of Diamonds meaning this person has no interest whatsoever in wealth.
Then I met my Guru. He never took any money from anyone but did a lot for others. He cured diseases and well there are so many things he did but did not accept anything.
After that I met my Sadguru. HE would give you wealth if HE loved you. From where HE got the money I did not know but it seems as HE claimed that HIS Father left a lot of property and which he has sold just a fraction and would give even money to his followers but he would not spend a single penny on himself. I have a Cassette which shows HIM lying prostrate before Mahalaxmi praying for wealth when HE had no desire to get wealth for HIS own utilisation.
But for us ordinary people we require money the only question is How Much? And that question is in the minds of majority of people living in this world and that is the contant cause of worry and stress to most of us.

I tell people that Money doesn't make the world go round, it just makes it easier to live in. And if one thinks about it, that is true to some extent. There are several morals I have that I would not sell out to, regardless of the price. I make do with little, not as little as the saints you mentioned Pravin But I have family and that is all I truely need when times get hard.

I guess the only way to know our own price is for someone to offer it to us. In my job, for example, we have the chance to do unlimited and very well paid extra time. That means that some people hardly ever go home or hardly have a free day in a whole month. I believe they will one day be the richest corpses in the cemetery, because they seem to be working themselves into their graves. Their money must be piling up nicely. It's a shame they never have a chance to enjoy it.
As for me, I am the lazy kind, so I consider my leisure time to be extremely expensive: meaning I never part with it unless absolutely necessary. I consider I already earn more than enough, so I never feel the temptation to earn any more.
I also do not understand the pressure banks are always putting on us to make our money produce more money. That is not what I want money for, but to spend it whenever I am ready to and enjoy what I can buy with it. If I cannot dispose of it because it is busy making more money... who is my money working for? Surely the bank?
