A few weeks ago NIMH (National Institute of Mentally Handicapped, Hyderabad, INDIA) had conducted a sports meet for all the Physically & mentally handicapped children at National Stadium Hyderabad.

In one race.., Nine contestants, all physically or mentally disabled, assembled at the starting line for the 100-yard dash. At the gun, they all started out, not exactly in a dash, but with a relish to run the race to the finish and win. All, that is, except one little boy who stumbled on the asphalt, tumbled over a couple of times, and began to cry.

The other eight heard the boy cry. They slowed down and looked back. Then they all turned around and went back......every one of them. One girl with Down's Syndrome bent down and kissed him and said, "This will make it better." Then all nine linked arms and walked together to the finish line.

Everyone in the stadium stood, and the cheering went on for several minutes. People who were there are still telling the story.

Why??

Because deep down we know this one thing: What matters in this life
is more than winning for ourselves. What matters in this life is helping others win, even if it means slowing down and changing our course.

If you pass this on, we may be able to change our hearts as well as someone else's. "A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle"

Please tell others about it - at least to the people who will understan the meaning of the message.

Yesterday is not ours to recover, but tomorrow is ours to win or lose...

Dear swetha,

When I read your post, on the race my tears started to fall down my face. What a beautiful thing for the children to do! As Pravin once quoted to me, from Shakespear: 'The Child is the Father of MAN'. We can ALL learn from the children!

Blessings to all. . . Linda

Myself have cried too when I read this story.

We all have a lot to learn from it. Sometimes in this busy life its so hard to keep ourselves "awaken", alert, and to maintain our most precious values, the ones that REALLY matter.

I wonder if FloridaLightWorker has moon or sun in pisces? ;) (I have moon in pisces and I cry all the time!!!

awwwwww

that was beuatiful I can imagine little children helping each other
but sadly its hard for me to imagine older people helping each other....
when we are little life is a big mystery and when we are older life is somthing to take...
little uns are so full of love and kindness they will give you the last of thier ice cream or help you when your sick and ask you if you are ok when you cry
but some how we loose that kindness as we get older we start to care less for others and more about ourselves "why is no one asking if IM ok?"....
I liked reading that there are still little uns who still care becouse it seems that more and more innocence in children is dieing out with "GIMMMES"

sank you swetha
