Hmm perfect marriage, not sure there is such a thing.  I believe its about hard work and compromise.  You need to be able to have a laugh with them, because forever is a long time.  Plus you need to be with someone who you are willing to look after and do all the gross things for, ie wipe bums, bathe, worry about etc.  When we meet someone when we are young and marry them we forget that we are going to grow old with them.

I have been with my hubby for over ten years and it still feels new but there has been rocky bits but we worked through them instead of divorcing.  I still like him so i guess thats all that matters lol!

Perfection is a difficult concept. Then you have to ask perfect for who? One partner or both.
I've got a pretty good marriage this time round, 19 years now so we are doing something right and I hope it's going to see us out.
But is it perfect - no, I'm happy, I think Audery's happy we don't need to walk round saying I love you evry few minutes, in fact i can't remember the last time we said it - we don't need to, it a given. It would like me saying 'you like strawberries' she likes strawberries, I know she likes strawberries, I'll buy them if I see some but we don't need to remind each other.
But perfect - well pretty damn close actually now I really think about it.
When she needs me I'm there, when we walk down the street I put my hand out and her hand is just there- right where it should be.
Perhaps perfection is possible in the small things.
Interesting thought, thank you.

Perfect marriage?  How you define perfect is the key.  With so many marriages that end in divorce (mine did after 14 years), I suspect a marriage is rudimentarily perfect if it meets two criteria:

1.  It persists (no divorce, although death of a spouse does not invalidate a (previously) perfect marriage).
2.  Both parties are happy to be married to each other and, if asked, and would do it all over again.

That would be perfect enough for me.
