Be careful that you are not confusing the dogma of some religions or churches with faith.  For me, my faith is my greatest joy and sorrow, because I do have a choice and my own free will.  Each day is an adventure of trying to stay on The Path.  Take care.

This thread has been informative and I enjoyed to read the discussion. I though I could share my view, since I see myshelf having somewhat similar view as those 'Believers in God':

Yes, I see that my identity is defined by 'God' (partially). This would mean for me that I have given my 'soul' to this 'God'.


For single being I would say yes. I do not know what else 'God' would possibly to do except to love me. I'm giving my 'freedom' to 'God' with my identity because I see that my identity is more important than my 'freedom'.


I think that my 'God' let's me be what 'I truly am' (whatever that is) because 'God' loves me. So I think that 'God' would only tell me what to think, how to think, right/wrong etc. if my own view in these things is not what 'I truly am'. When I think of it I see no other motivations for 'God' to act except love.


The most important thing about life for me is the truth. That is what I seek, that is what I believe to have found partially, that is what I'm hoping to see more and more. I totally agree for not to give one's will to anyone. Unless the one you give it to is worth it.

We can 'bind' ourselves to anything or anyone we so choose.  And in this is our free will making that choice.  To bind oneself to God we are acknowledging the spirit that flows through all life.  

God is spirit!  (That statement is written in the Christan Bible among other places...but how much do we truly examine...what is spirit?)

As a definition:  Soul = Breath  As God breathes the soul into each of us with our breath of life, we are intrinsicly bound.

I agree. I see that this 'binding' in some way results loss of free will, or 'combining of free wills'.


This is an interesting subject. I also think that 'God' is spirit (one word to describe 'God' among others). But could one also say that spirit is 'God'? I see this would mean that there is only one spirit existing and all spirit is 'God'. According to my experience some spiritual effects into my world are not good. I believe that my 'God' is only good to me (loving).

Yes... in My opinion are Gods spirit in us all.
And that will undermine every single Religion, because if we all have spirit of God in us, then there are no "true" Religion...only many names for the same God and different paths to get to him.
Since these path are ruled by humans and humans are "weak" in the sense to see what suit their cause, many of these paths have lead to cruelty in name of the Lord.
In my opinion isn't the Religion the most important one, but your daily action.
I can never believe that any God will ask what community I belong to...but rather how I have behaved true my life.
I agree that a Religion can be seen as a community for people of the same belief that together can support each other in the fate and give comfort in hard times.

When I said God is in us all...then it is in all living soul ...from the lowest to the highest.
