i read in a book where the author says that we can achieve total freedom if we accept total compulsion. She gave 2 examples as well....

1)Traffic lights restrain ur freedom to cross the streets whenever you wish. But this restrain gives you the freedom from being run over by a truck

2)If you were assigned a job and prohibited from leaving it, it would restrain the freedom of ur career but wud give you freedom from thefear of unemployment.

the author further says that whenever a new compulsion is imposed upon u you automatically gain a new freedom hence by accepting total compulsion we can achieve total freedom

I did not find this convincing enough....I want to kow every1 elses thots on this

It sore of makes some kind of sence to me, but I think we could go a bit further on this.

I second that samson, it kinda makes sense, but needs to be discussed more or maybe even debated more.

But I feel the author is more cofused than us, LOL, joking.

BTW pranay, tell the name of the book, let me try reading that book, it will help me think for the authors viewpoint & also my viewpoint, this will help me understand it much better.
