I think words can limit communication or they can enhance it. But  it depends highly on the energy behind the words, that if this energy can be discerned well, it can make a plain word turn in to gold or a beautiful word in to dust.

Many of us have different ways of communicating or expressing ourselves and there are those who might not use the words thank you or sorry but you know without a doubt that they are.  Then there are those people who use those words and you know without a doubt they really are not.  

If the two are used effectively (energy and words) it can fill so many gaps by way of building bridges of understanding between people.  The mind bogles at what might become if we all get good at it.

While we might not get it right all the time.  When we do some really powerful stuff emerges!
