Direct correlation of gems to planets had little
corroboration from the holy scriptures. Only references of benefits of
only ruby were there in vedas and puranas but correlation of all
gems to all planets is not found except the lone verse from the said
narad puran.

following are the gem recommendations followed by many indian
astrologers for ages:

1. gem of the lagna lord
2. gem of the bhagya (9th) lord
3. gem of the yogakaraka lord
4. gem of the planet of the birth star
5. gem of the most benefic jupiter irrespective of his strength and
placement.

The Planetary Gemology World is divided into two (2) opposing
philosophies, viz., Anukul-vad v/s Pratikul-vad:
ANUKULA-VAD: A gem will act "SAME" as it's planet - So gems
should be  chosen for Anukul (favorable) grahas

PRATIKULA-VAD: A gem will act "OPPOSITE" of it's planet - So
gems  should be chosen for Pratikul (unfavorable) grahas
