two things ... (a) if was a natural sapphire, it could be an overload of energy to it and you were not properly grounded ... but as powerful as natural sapphires are, that is less likely than (b) it is a man-made sapphire and you simply overloaded it. if a manmade gem or crystal is heated too fast or not tempered properly, they often crack ... especially if someone with a particularly high resonance with any gemstone comes in contact with it.

maybe this has nothing to do with you but saphires tend to not "glow" or shines as well if your unfaithful with ur partner, so maybe a crack shows that ur like cheating way to much or bad love connections (i'm not saying ur cheating or anything!!!!! i don't even know if ur dating anyone)
but thats just my crack theory :P
