Probably because there restless, procrastinating and indecisive and usually look for strong partners who do want to make the decisions for them  

Can be social butterfly, tends to know a little bit about a lot but not a lot about anything in particular.

Geminis have a strong tendency to go with the flow, and I agree, can seek out strong partners who make all the decisions. I also find geminis particularly willing to please others since we get joy from the happiness of others around us (to us, I believe the moods of others can be quite contagious).
