So you want to build a house! Congratulations. This article is written to give you some tips on the order in which to progress toward accomplishing your goal. Although nothing takes the place of a qualified Time-Space Feng Shui consultant to assist you in building your dream home (however grand or modest), these suggestions come from feng shui principles that have been tested over millennia.

There are two important factors to consider first, Location and Direction of the house. Next to consider is the shape of the house and the location of the rooms.

This allows the location to be fed good active qi as well as having the ability to retain the qi while keeping it moving. The land must have spirit. The power of the qi must be strong and fertile. The site must be more yang than yin. Good mountains will take care of the people while good water will take care of wealth.

In Qing Master Jiang Da Hong’s Yang Zhai Zhi Nan we learn that we must examine the natal chart of the house. This is direction. We use the compass to determine the best direction for a house to be built so that it gives a good natal chart. The flying stars must work well with the forms for people to be happy, healthy, and prosperous in the house.

The same classic gives us the best shape of the house and principles on location of the rooms. He tells us that the house is beautiful if it is regular and symmetrical. The yang rooms should be located in the yang part of the house while the yin rooms should be located in the yin part of the house. So, you can see how important it is that the good yin qi should be in the back of the house while the good yang qi should be in the front of the house.

Although this formula is simple it does require research, exploration and thoughtful design. When a house is built according to these principles the people live much easier lives than those who live in other types of houses. The same is true for businesses.
