My very dear friend gave me an indoor fountain recently and I really love it, especially at night with its underwater light on. I intend attaching opal chips and other gemstones down the face of it where the water falls into the compartment below. It faces west because the only place I could position it was on a coffee table against the eastern wall under a window, but it enhances the front entrance area where I landscaped a garden to cancel the strict horizontal and vertical lines formed by the rear of next door's place (plus for a bit of privacy), and the rear of the garage.
I planted a couple of native trees and two port wine magnolias, they're the evergreen variety with small purple and cream flowers in autumn/winter with perfume like tropical fruit salad!
The trees have grown very nicely over the last few years and with our hot summers, give a cool and shady space in the northern aspect, plus plenty of privacy for my eastern patio.
I placed a bamboo screen a bit back from the front entrance to break the line of vision direct into my main living room from the front street and the general feeling of the area is peaceful and serene.
