Planet earth has two most important poles at the South and North poles.

Feng Shui measures magnetic north by means of a magnetic needle. The source of this magnetic field is at the magnetic North Pole, produced by the planet earth.

Feng shui deals with magnetic field. Magnetic South Pole is on the top of our planet, in other words - not far from the Earth's North Pole. North magnetic pole is near the Earth's South Pole. Magnetism radiates from the North magnetic pole which is near the geographical South Pole.
All directions are relative. There is no such thing as absolute north (or true north). The astronomical north refers to a moving axis of rotation of the earth.
The magnetic north refers to a moving dipole in the earth. The study of feng shui builds its analysis on superimposing qi fields of which gravity and magnetism are major players. Although feng shui is not a science, it cannot be detached entirely from science. Magnetic field being one of the two most important fields on earth, feng shui has to be based on the magnetic directions. Magnetic north, and not astronomical north, is therefore to be used in measuring directions.

Xuan Kong Feng Shui does not INVOLVE in either magnetic north or true north on earth planet directly. XuanKong Feng Shui involve and play with Time and Space WHICH IS A SAME ONE  BODY, WHERE ONE, IS IN THE UNIVERSE AND THE OTHER IS ON EARTH. The chinese  compass/luopan, is used to read and register location or Bearing of the Sun at any given point ( Space=Time )  on earth, RELATIVE to the The Magnetic North or South POlES of earth planet BECAUSE This north an dsouth point of earth planet ATTRACTS AND RESPONDS TO THE MAGNETIC NEEDLE OF THE COMPASS or luopan,iopan, North and south pole of earth planet is TAKEN as the inter -reference point of such measurement.

You use magnetic earth - as the Lopan is a compass. You don't actually need a lopan to conduct a consultation you can use a normal compass although it must be detailed (show the actual individual degrees)

If you don't use a Luopan and use a compass ( Both to you is the same , to me, they are NEVER the same), Where the hell to find the TianDi Gua, The Thunder Storm Gua,The Earth Quake Gua, and The  Water Fire Gua?

In short Where to locate the Tian Gua and the Di Gua , or the Fu Mu San Pan Gua, If the  Landform dragon do not FIT into One Perfect Gua Prinicples, ( In Practical as mostly the case is), How to go about applying the 7stars robbery and replacement principles, Chinese donot measure angle in term of degree, we use Yao and Yin and Yang and  24 Hills and  Ba Gua.Compass has 360 degree, whereas - Luapan has 384 Yao and a Yao has Yin capacity or Yang Capacity,and  A degree has not-are they the same?

For your information, Lupoan is compass and  compass is not luopan. Compass NEVER MEASURE YIN AND YANG QI CONTENT -DO THEY? COMPASS ONLY MEASURE THE LAND BEARING  FROM ONE TO ANOTHER , IT CANNOT MEASURE THE QI FLOW ON THE EARTH  SURFACE OF A  ZONE LOCATION. CAN IT?

Luopan is compass and  compass in not  luopan-what a compass can do, a luopan can do but what a luopan can do, a compass cannto do-Please see the difference.
