Here is some thought from me for your question Lincoln
Xuan Kong origin?
Xuan Kong pronounced Shu-en-kong is the mother system of the famous flying star FS technique.Xuan Kong has its origins from San Yuan School of Feng Shui.It is a complete system of classical feng shui that includes sophisticated formulas to assess landforms in conjunction with the invisible qi patterns that influnces a property.
The flying Stars technique is just one part of the xuan kong school.xuan kong is highly sophisticated art of FS that comprises a various techniques to evaluate a property in respect of time, landforms and qi distribution for the interior and exterior.
The study of xuan kong encompasses numerlogy, symbology and science of the Ba Gua along with the mathematics of time. This technique is widely advocated by authentic feng shui masters in china, hong kong, taiwan, singapore and malaysia.
Defining Xuan Kong
The 2 words Xuan Kong can have many representations. In Master Shen Ju Reng literature(qing dynasty)he briefly described that xuan can represent 'one' while kong can represent 'nine'.Xuan Kong therefore represent the interaction and relationship ob One to Nine (which refers to the Nine Flying Star). In deeper context, you can view Xuan as "Heaven' and Kong as "Earth".Therefore Xuan Kong represents the interaction of forces between Heaven and earth.Heaven reprsent Yang while Earth represent Yin.So in a more ligical perspective, the two words, simply mean the interaction of Yin and Yang.
Brief History Of Xuan Kong
Xuan Kong FS enthusiasts will immediately recognize Master Jiang Da HOng(Qing Dynasty)and have him to thank for pioneering the study of Xuan Kong during the 17the century.Jiang was the first few who openly discusses Xuan Kong and have subsequently penned several classics to relating to subject.
Xuan Kong was populaized during the 1700S and Flying Stars in Particular,as a system/brach of Xuan Kong, become more popular only after 1930s.In fact.it only achieved global acceptance in the 1980s.So flying star Fs is not an old science considering it's 400yr old history in comparison to other system of classical feng shui like san yuan and san he dating back to Tang Dynasty.Though some minor traces or links can be made to some older classic dating back to the Tang Dynasty.Flying Stars was not a popular method us ethen.
San Yuan is a system that encompasses Xuan Kong,Sn Yuan covers Flying Star,a branch of Xuan Kong FS.Xuab King FS contains many more techniques,Flying Star just oneof them.
Thus to understand the origins of Xuan Kong feng Shui, one needs to research the works of Jiang Da Hong.Getting to know his background as well as his literature is crucial to finding out more about Xuan Konmg as well as the origins of this particular form of FS.Althought Jiang Da Hong wasn.t the founder of Xuan Kong.he was one of the first few who revealed its secret.
Various sub-divisions are derived. Some of the divisions are:
Xuan Kong (aka Mysterious Subleties,Time and Space School)
Xuan Kong Fei Xing(Popularly known as the Flying Star School)
Xuan Kong Da Gua(64 Hexagrans Method School)
Xuan Kong Shui Fa (Time and Space water Method School)
Zi Bai(Purple White Flying Stars School)
Major Wandering Stars school
Minor wandering Stars school
San YUan Dragon Gate 8 Formation School
San he Luan Tou -(aka enviroment apperance and land formations school)
San He Shui Fa( water method school)
Qi men Dun Jia -(Mystical doorways and magic Armour School)
Please note that eight life aspirations(North-career,South-fame,Southwest-marrigae)is NOT a part of any classical schoold of feng shui. Most classical Feng shui system are derivatives of either San He or San Yuan methodologies or of both.Eight life aspirations has no foundation in either methodology, nor does it have any principles derives from Yi jing.
What is Xuan Kong Da GUa
Xuan Kong Da Gua refers to the 64 hexagrams. The "64 hexagrams" is the same as Yi Jing hexagrams – Yi Jing [I Ching] is unquestionably one of the most important books in the study of Chinese texts. Flying Star?
Flying Star Feng Shui (also known as Xuan Kong Feng Shui or Fei Xing Feng Shui) is the traditional style of Feng Shui that the Asian peoples have practiced for centuries. Some people confuse it with astrology, and others think of it as numerology, but it is actually neither of these. Even more prevalent is the title "geomancy", but by definition this term still falls short of an accurate explanation. Further, it is based in mathematics and logic, utilizing specific formulae to unlock the secrets of the patterns of qi.
Feng Shui in and of itself is essentially the analysis and manipulation of qi in the environment. Qi can be conceptually related to the primordial energy which created and continues to affect and effect the universe.
Flying Star Feng Shui is the analysis of qi and the subsequent patterns generated in accordance with the geomagnetic directional patterns that affect the structures in which we live and work. Feng Shui and qi are technically more involved than just geomagnetic forces, but qi is is definitely affected by geomagnetic and other physical forces.Flying star is calculated based on the age of the building pattern of 20 years cycle will then identify the movements of fortunate and unfortunate stars that will bring good or bad luck to the resident of the building. These lucky or unlucky flying stars are also calculated for every month, week and for every day. This placement of flying star helps feng shui practitioners to identify the Water and Mountain star which indicates the best direction for wealth and power to be enjoyed by the residents.
