I think what people tend to forget is that marriage is hard work, and these days a lot of people would rather just blame someone else if they can't do it. The man I married was wonderful when we dated, and for the first year or so of our marriage. Then I saw the real him, the him he hid from me to seem so perfect. He gave up on working on "us" and decided that it was my fault. Granted, if I had listed to my inner self I probably wouldn't have married him, but wouldn't take back those years and my wonderful children.
I know that with hard work marriage can work. With people in my family being married as long as some of them have. My great grandparnts both died over the last 2 years, they were married to each other for over 70 years. My great aunt and uncle have been married for over 50. LOL My parents got married their senior year of high school, and they are still together and strong today. (5 kids later lol)
I know it's possible, but I think that these days people are looking for an easy life and aren't realizeing how difficult it can really be. I also see those people that shouldn't be married (abuse and such) finally convincing themselves that they have what it takes to get out before it is too late. While it is sad that divorce happens at the rate it does, sometimes in the end it is for the best. If only one person is throwing all of temselves into it, it isn't going to work.

My husband didn't want to end the marriage, but I knew also he didn't love me, nor did I love him any longer...I decided it would be best to set him free to find the 'type' of wife he wanted..and he did! Divorce is not the worse thing that can happen to people...and it can open up more doors & possibilities. Treat each other with respect even in divorce, keep the children from your bickering, and move forward..positively from that moment on.
