I dont know if maria montessori was a mystic but her insights into parenting are mind boggling. Before you become a parent or if you are already one and your baby is below 3 years of age, grab her book and read it if you want your child to turn out to be a wholesome personality. A truly amazing lady!!

i still dont have kids.. but will keep that in mind:)

She was a mind boggling child psychologist. She has written a great deal about the subconscious mind and thats why i feel she was a mystic too!!

Montessori is one aspect of a great spectrum of people who have written about children and their development.  You don't have to have to follow that system to still have a great child and you won't have failed as parent if you don't follow her system.

Yep, there were a lot of Montessori' nursery schools that openend up around the late 1980's, they had very strict scheduling and a very adhered to routine. Many people believed that kids should be allowed to play for a lot longer and just be kids rather than 'hot-housed' or educated as 2 1/2 year olds in these nurseries. Not all kids thrived and many ended up with a depleted demeanour thinking they were failures at 3 years old.   :( If you are going to read Montessori then read the other books too that give both sides to the overall picture of starting education at 2 years old
