Unfortunately I am not afraid.  I understand the US economy and how the system works.

In reality, our imports from other countires are twice the amount of exports ~ meaning that we buy more over seas made product than we sell of US made product.

The reason for this is that the American People have made it a habit to purchase products not made in The USA.

Now with that being said - if the USA was to stop purchasing products from other countries "What would happen to those countries"

We fuel the economy of most other countries, and now we are slowly realizing that many of these countries are abusing the system by not being equal when it comes to exports/imports.

Many countries have large investments in this country, just as we have investments in just about every country in the world.

However, no - I am not afraid, I am not afraid because I know in my heart that our country will continue to be the country we have always stood for, and I also know that we are one of the only countries that allow people from all around the world to be part of.

If we look at history, our current status, and statistics, we know that our population consist of people from all around the world - So, think about it - This is a world within the USA.  I just find it amazing how people hate this country, but they love the idea of what this country can do for them.

Pardon my words, but as I have always said - The United States Of America is damned if they do, and damned if they don't.

There will not be peace for the world for some time. Obama isn't the answer. First of all (and this hasn't got anything to do with what I forsee) he has his hands tied, and he is going into a leadership where the country is very messed up and in financial straights. He isn't going to have much to work with to rectify what's already been done. It's going to take the country years to get back on it's feet. Some say wars are inevitable when the country gets into a recession or a depression, as it's heading. There is so much disquiet in the world today, that one president is not going to make much of a difference. I just hope he has the ability to keep the terrorists of the world away from our country. I worry he doesn't have the capability to do the job, but then again, he was voted in, so we need to just hope and pray all goes right!

Explosive topic, I bet.  I'm biased, myself.  I was a paid canvasser in Ohio from March 13th through election day, and the nonprofit I worked for endorsed Obama.  I will never forget the POWER of the moment when that blue Ohio flashed across the big screen, the look on my boss's face - like a kid's first glimpse of Disneyland - the tears on the faces of the coworkers who'd become my friends and family over the long months of beating the streets.  We knew at that moment that we had won.  Not just US, not just Ohio - the People had won back our country.  YES WE DID!  Doubters can believe what they like.  They told us Hillary would win, McCain would win, Barack wouldn't live to see election night.  They like to spend their time telling us what we CAN'T do.  But millions of Americans have discovered a secret: together, the possibilities are infinite.  It's a new day, indeed.

Thank goodness I'm British. All politians are by their very nature self serving, delusional buffoons. The real decisions are not made in the White House and Downing Street - sometimes watching this as an outsider it's like watching my children and I think back to my days hope. The only thing I'm certain of is that an awful lot of Americans are going to get a sharp awakening and a deep sense of dis-illusionment. I remember Kennedy - and he sold it to us, then it all comes out when thet're dead. Had Clinto been shot we'd be idolising his memory.

Prof. Akers well put Sir

One can only hope for positive change.
The Barack Obama chocolate figure on a stick was a bit over the top for me, but if the proceeds go to charity I’m comfortable with that.

You Sir a modern day warrior know first hand the futility of war.

Of today’s leaders the one I do respect is Vladimir Putin a martial artist like yourself.  He wasted no time tossing that billionaire into jail that was running for President of Russia.  He is nobody’s fool. Who wants a person who only thinks of money running a country?

This current recession will run its course like the other.  Hopefully the world leaders will not start behaving like idiots arming themselves to the hilt.  Maybe Jiminy Cricket has an Ace up his sleeve and they will work at changing the current world economy that is based on debt to something else, while at the same time making sure shelter and food are the order of the day.
