I agree the economy will be hit hard, although the war will have an impact on things, stress is causing a bigger issue with the younger generation that will have an even bigger impact. I predict that the over 40's will be working harder and will be in more demand that ever before by 2010.

Thats not quite how the world works. In absence of major catastrophe (which is not taking place, at least not to the extent that would effect the economy), the natural trend of GDP is positive.

Also, the Iraq war would have an overall benefit on the world economy. This is because of increased spending to acquire the resources neccessary to wage war. Yes, the US is losing, but if somebody is losing, somebody is (generally, and certainly in this case) gaining.

Hmm, I'm wondering what skills nvg21 has in economics....I've been watching the news and the economics doesn't look so good this week, our dollar has lost almost 8c to the US dollar and interest rates have gone up, Wall Street in New York had a lot of troubles too, with "investors buying out of fear" (a quote made by a financial expert which he also says is getting people nowhere) so I hope watching the news is teaching me a bit! ;)

As of any war, nobody wins in the end.  There is no money being made in Iraq.  It's not even a normal war.  There is nothing in it for anybody.

A bad economy in US will affect the world. Even with China and India coming up, they still have along way to go. We have barely came out of the recession and now, it looks like there might be a storm again.
it use to be recession are cyclical about every ten years but now with everything computerised and wire(less), this cycles have become shorter and quicker.
We are truly ending the borders through technology. The world is really a global market now not physically but in paper which is very dangerous.
