First -- forgive my typos and if i write can instead of cannot ... and if i ate whole words.... kinda jumping the gun.

Today being a sunday and given the fact that i really havent slept for over 3 to 5 hours in weeks.... i took nap in the afternoon.  know let the ride being

1pm to 3pm 15-Nov-2009

so here goes the dream ==>

fast cars and people all over... if i remember it felt like a F1 venue only it was also so fuzzy and noisy (i think)  ... and from what i remember everything was a long streak ... i cant be sure. i dont remember but it may be i was a part of F1 car race.

anyways.... the next thing i remember is

being near my childhood home eating and stuff then (again not sure but i think swetha just gave birth to child) and a couple friend and me are leaving the hospital (even thou there never has been a hospital near my childhood home) and we walk down the stairs and that place came out directly in front of my childhood garage.  just before parting with my friends i suggest that we go someplace and grab a bite.

we get into our cars and their car is in front and i get caught behind by something and they take a turn i cannot which i can make out and for all practical purpose we are separated from each other. this car i was driving seemed like those nascar type of car with neon lights at the bottom.

then for sometime i just wondered (in the same street or was perhaps in the same place thinking what to do next) and thinking. then my friends call me or something (i dont remember) they call to say to bring something (coriander leaf? and a few other things i thing cash?).

and for a moment i am seemed to be caught up in some kind of jam and there semed to be awful alot of people and even another car for a street which is usually very clam - here too i wondered whats up.. why such a crowd.

Everything above is happening in the same street.. my childhood steer.

right after this i find myself alternating between a motorbike and nice sexy bike (something like i wanted as a child). one moment in the motorbike next moment in the bike (bicycle) and back again... till i finally found myself on the bike (bicycle).

i remember giving the bike an odd look as if "wow! how did i get this i have wanted it all my life with a content smile of wonderment on my face but not understand how i got the bike to start with.

its one of those bikes which professional racer use with gears and all (although i did not see the gears i was so amazed and content to have the bike itself).

finally when my friend had called i remember arguing with the shopkeeper over phone that if you dont have this and dont have that and a customer has to bring it then you might as well shut. but anyhow i go the to shop with the stuff they wanted and again start arguing with the owner but - this was just a argument you have when  you are irritated and not to serious about it. not to mention that the shop kepeer was an old man a kind of lived in his own world .... or maybe his attitude is this us what i have take it or leave it or maybe even bring your own stuff... as if the old man didnt care a damn

the oddest part of the hut-kind-of-shop was the old man was making "paan" (bettel nut leaf and some other stuff see==> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paan ) but in the back he had something else going on thou there was no attempt to hide it... so i dont think it was anything illegal.... i think something to do with puffed rice that we have snacks here in india - but it struck me as very odd and why would the owner be doing such a thing... because it seemed so deceptive (even in my dream i think i thought of this being a little deceptive)

LOL anyways ... right then swetha kicked my butt and woke me up

Can anyone help me with this? this the first dream i have remembered in years and the first time i am trying to analyzes it... i dont know why. but i am assuming i am doing so becuase there is message in the dream... this is the only dream that i am remember that i am trying to trying find answers to.

the one thing i can be sure of is i saw

==> f1 kind of place.
==> two nascar kind of cars (one my friends and one mine)
==> one normal but a real upmarket car
==> one sleek sexy mortor bike
==> and finally the bike (bicycle) used by the racing pros and which i wanted since i was a child.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Abhishek

Hi Abishek,

First let me say that dreams during a nap in the day are often disregarded for interpretation, that is not regarded as very significant. I do not think such dreams cannot be translated, but I agree with the assessment one needs to be careful with putting too much significance on these dreams. This has to do with our type of sleep and dream sleep pattern. In 8 hours of sleep we normally have 4-5 visual symbolic dreams. We forget most of them simply because our short memory to store these dreams is not working during the REM sleep when they occur. We remember them when we wake up during the dream (this might be waking up for a few secs and not long enough to even remember we woke up).
We also dream during deep sleep (non REM sleep), but of a total different kind: more like thoughts on the subjects that kept us busy in the last few hours before we fell asleep (like an unconscious continued thougth process) AND motion experience ("falling" asleep with jerk motioins, "rocking" to sleep if you spent a day on the water in a boat for example).
Dreaming is very important to us being able to function optimally, optimize our memory of learned tasks, etc... If we don't sleep enough, our performance will detoriate in the waking hours. Our brain will try to rectify this during the few sleep hours we do get to maximize the dream time and in that way compensate for lost dreamtime. And if you stay awake for too long (like say 2-3 days) then eventually we will start to dream even while still "awake". Any such dreams are often directly related to processing asap the practical stuff of those long waking hours.

Your dream is a visual dream, and therefore subject to symbolical translation. We always dream in a symbolical language, because during visual dream sleep all the parts of the brain regarding direct waking life/conscious world meaning are "offline" (they don't get the oxygen to work properly and are in that way temporarily shut off) whereas all the brain regions regarding symbolical translation are getting extra oxygen, hyperactive. So, when you dream, the causes of the dream are shown to you in symbols (encoded), because that is the sole language your dreaming brain understands (decoded) while you dream.

You have been very busy lately, lacked lots of sleep (and thus dreamtime), and you had an extensive visual dream in just under 2 hours of sleep. It normally takes 2 hours before your first REM sleep period starts, but with the lack-of-dreaming period REM sleep can start earlier to make up for what you lost. So we can safely assume this dream will be related to the busy period, how it makes you feel, etc.

Now let's see what the symbolics of your dream most likely are:

1. The dream is overall busy, with lots of people, and involves you having to race in a car. -> Driving a car and the road you're driving on is a symbol that tries to tell you something about how you deal with life at the moment and the state of your present liferoad. We can literally see your life as being very "busy" and a "racetrack" against time.

2. food is our nourishment to keep going. Without food we die. So, eating in dreams strands for taking care of our mental and emotional selves. It's a sign we've been depriving ourselves and need to replenish our reserves.

3. hospitals are places of healing. To dream that you are in a hospital thus means that you are in need of healing and resting your body. You need everyday life to go back to a healthier flow.

4. Not sure who Swetha is (your wife?), but a birthing indicates you're having new ideas/projects, or beginning a new life.

-> combination of 2-3 and 4... you are in the progress of starting a new life, but it requires you to heal and rest as well as nourish your body, mind and emotions.

5. Order of driving cars, separation from friends: you start driving "behind" your friends and are allowed to take turns in their lives you seem you feel you cannot for practical reasons, and so you get separated. I think this represents your feelings that you feel you are behind in life in comparison to your friends, that you are practically restrained from doing what they do in life and that you are "losing" your friends, or at least separated from enjoying their company. With the NASCAR type of car, there's an element of you seeing all this as if you have to race in order to catch up with your friends. Either you feel you need to race after your friends in status and way of life and are unable to keep up with them, or it's a more simple indicated that you are falling out of touch with them and feel you don't have tome for a social life right now.

6. once you are separated from your friends in physical contact, they reach out to you via a phonecall. Phonecalls often indicate that you need to cronfront a certain issue, and the issue is hinted at in the conversation over the phone. In this case your friends order you to buy coriander. Coriander is a herb, and dreaming about herbs indicates your friends are forcing you to look at your relationship with them in a different, new perspective, and to "spice up" the friendship relations with them.
Coriander leaf specifically seems a tricky herb: not everyone likes the taste of it, some people abhor it or are allergic to it; and it's medicinal use is related to helping the digestive system to deal with waste either as a diuretic or in dealing with gass problems. If you are someone who dislikes the taste of Coriander then consider that the choosing of coriander in your dream in a phonecall by your friends may apply to your relationship with them in a repelling sense, as in they might not like you anymore or are repelling you, or perhaps you need to repell them. If you believe or know it to be used as a diuretic or carminative medicine, it might indicate they or you are "wasting" your time on the relation, and should get rid of things in your life to make time for them. Only you can answer for yourself what coriander means to you.
Next you mention they also ask you to bring cash with you. People who have money are people who can buy things, who have status and power. That your friends are asking for this seems to indicate that status is an important issue between you and them.
You mention an argument with the shopkeeper where your friends are to buy the food regarding the fact that the shopkeeper is asking his customers to bring the coriander to prepare the food. This is indicate of your feelings as if life is going the wrong way, not how it's supposed to be. The shopkeeper should be selling you the nutricients, you are the one in need of nourishment, not the other way around. But then you also wave off the argument as being not that important, that this feeling of the "life gong topsy turvy" is stemming more out of stress and irritation rather than a correct perspective.

7. After your friends make clear to you what they want from you (the symbolism of money and coriander) you end up in a traffic jam... life prevents you from doing what they ask of you. What they want from you puts you under stress or you feel you are unable to accomplish this. Or, in trying to give in to their demands, you end up driving yourself into a jam.

8. alternating motorcycle and bicycle. A motorcycle hints at a wish for freedom, whereas a bicycle hints at wanting to attain balance in your life (one of the first things you need to learn as a child to ride a bike). You switch a few times between these two desires, and eventually end up choosing for the "balance" that will enable you to race through life, slalomming through traffic jams and cars, taking short cuts cars can't take, etc.

9. Paan is traditionally offered at the start of a social event, seen as an offer of hospitality (hence perhaps the strangeness of you needing to bring money and coriander with you... the hospitality comes with strings attached) and chewed to refreshen your breath and clean your palate. In city regions it may be regarded as a nuisance, for the spit stains in the street paan chewers leave. So, this paan contains the same double meaning as coriander might have. On the other hand, a breath refreshener, is like renewal of life, and a fresh start. Just check with yourself what Paan might mean to you in this regard.
And yet, you seem to think something is not just straightforward or that something dubious is going on... your feelings regarding the shopkeeper's business.

Conclusion:
the dream reflects your life as a race against time and being very busy. You are in a high need of rest and replenish your reserves. Practical life has influenced your personal relations in a negative way. There are indications that part of your stress stems from trying to keep up with your friends in status and time demands, and that these friendships have an angle, some duplicity, or that your friends ask things of you that you feel should be the other way around, or that they should rather support you instead of making demands on you. You also swing from the need to be free and finding a way to balance your life more.

firstly - thank you for the interpretation. It is brilliant.

and yes, i have been running a race... race against time. for the past 14 - 15 years i have lived, eaten and slept the internet. but the zing went missing somewhere down the line. 3 or 4 months ago a i fell in love with the internet all over again... which is when the race began... and i have not stopped running ever since.

i want to do this and i want to do that and i want to do everything at once. i have discovered more in the past 3 - 4 months than i discovered in the last 3 - 4 years. and it may sound funny but just the other day i was thinking if only i had a few more hours or maybe if i my body and mind didnt need to sleep i could have done a little bit more...

i know my long term goal, i know and always have know i will get there sooner or later but like you said i dont think it is going in the right direction right now... and i am desperately trying to bring my derailed car back on the right course but it is proving to be a harder than i ever imagined.

i have started so many new things in the past few weeks and i just cant stop myself from trying to do it all at once. every day gone by is like a full year of lost opportunities. there is so much to do and so far to go... that i simply cannot sit still and see life go by.

I have realized that i may have the vision and the tools make it happen... but that does not mean i have to lead from the front or even have the organizational skills... thats why people build a team... after all one man can only do so much. and i am somehow not being able to bring such a team together... and this is bugging me no ends... and i guess i am trying to compensate for it by trying harder.

I dont know... life right now is nothing more than a long multi-colored streak.

i know my friends and family are trying to reach out... and i want reach out to them too but simply am not being able to get out of this rat race.

oh I know that feeling about the internet interest (day and night... coms an goes), and also taking on too much at the same time... But dreaming and sleeping is necessary for performance, as well as just being able to relax and do nothing... hehe

Thank you very much for the feedback!

All the best on your sleek bike
