Interesting, maybe you are meant to be but not quite now. I say make it happen on its own, because trust me if it is meant to happen it will. And if it doesnt happen in this lifetime it will be another. Don't stop living before it does though. Good luck with that.

PS. another angle I considered was that bedroom signifies sexual intimacy, maybe it is saying by fulfilling your sexual desire for her you will be released of the pressure you are feeling now. This means that by having sex with her you will get closure, or maybe you think you are in love with her but probably the chemistry is just on a purely sexual plane, and if you were to have sex with her it would be just the closure you need to be freed to move on. Now, I am not saying this to tell you to go and have sex with her, but maybe if you reason it out and it turns out to really just be sex you want from her, maybe this would be an unexpected relief to you and it wouldn't be worth it to ruin an engagement over just sex.

If I were committed and a man proposed to me my response would depend on various factors, I think you are asking me why she respond the way she did. It could be she does loves you but feels honour bound to the engagement. It could be that she doesn't love you. It could be that she loves you but doesnt know that she loves you yet. It could be that she is undecided and is weighing you and the other man against each other. I am not sure why somebody would lie about being engaged when they really are not though. There are many other excuses to use that wouldn't be near as drastic, even if you cannot be honest about your real feelings being she loves you or not.
