I saw a ghost in my dream. In the dream, i wasn't really scared of this ghost...he was somewhat hanging up, i think his hands were raised and tied up or something like that, i dont remember clearly., and i thought ..he can't harm me because of that.
a little later in the same dream, the ghost was on the ground, this time he was attacking, and a college freind of mine was fighting him. The ghost had a big sword like thing with him and my friend was also attacking with something similar. ..a little later i saw even i had started attacking the ghost with a smaller sword. The ghost got hold of my sword, and i told another friend (or someone i know was beside me) that i have got to run now, and since she was standing in the way, i asked her to move so that i could run.
Again in the same dream, i'm going somewhere, i think to the place where i saw this ghost for the first time. with me is someone i know and i'm telling him that how i saw this ghost for the first time, and that i was alone at that time. With me is also a cow, i think the cow asked me for something and i knew its going to bite me if i dont, so before it bites me i close its mouth, all the while i treat it like how we normally treat a pet, then immediately another cow and the cow with me both bite my hands, and there are more cows around. one cow bites one hand and the other cow bites another. it looked like the other cow which bit me was angry that i closed the mouth of my pet cow. anyways, i wasnt hurt. and then i reach the place, some of my bleongings are there. i want to pick them, but there is some investigation going on and i'm not allowed to take my things from there. they say i can't until the investigation is complete. i tell them i have my purse and other important things and i cant wait until the investigation is over and so i insist on going inside and taking them... I woke up...dream ended.
whats all this about?
I'm not writing this as a continous dream because either i saw all these as parts, or i remember the dream in parts.

Hi Change,
Ghosts in a dream can be seen either in a negative light as meaning that something from your past has now come back to "haunt" you or confront you with a painful truth, or in a more positive one as representing a part of your own personality which it is felt would be to your great benefit to get to know and understand better, if you are going to continue to make significant forward progress towards your development as both a SPIRITual and human being (with ghosts believed to be SPIRITS of the dear, departed).
Cows on the other hand can have a huge variety of potential different meanings to each individual's dreaming mind.
Look at the following web page and take your pick from what is on offer, as some of the many possible reasons given by dream interpreters for a talking and helpful dream cow.
Personally, I prefer the one about the sacred cow!
| Quote: |
| Cows may be symbolic of the Divine Feminine--the aspect of the goddess who protects, sustains, and creates. |
And whom I would like to add to this also often provides us with highly perceptive insights into our own true inner nature and gives good advice accordingly with the intention to help us.

In the end we are always the best possible interpreter of our own dreams, as they are after all written in the almost unique language of our own unconscious minds, and not in someone else's.
One thing I do know for sure is that this is a normal symbolic dream which is open to interpretation as most dreams on this forum are, rather than it being in any way seen to be mediumistic, or an example of a genuine after death communication from the other side.
Cheers,
EoT

Here is a possible analysis of your dream:
Alternately a ghost may be an outdated behaviour or mode of thinking, especially one that disconnects you from the world. The dead are not supposed to keep holding on to the physical and living world, instead they need to move on. So then seeing the ghost might mean that old unusuable habbits are still lingering. The friend's aid, the fighting, the tying up seems to indicate this meaning, because they all represent ways of trying to deal with the old habbit so it would not affect your life negatively anymore. If this is the case, then the dream is showing you that your trials are not focused correctly.
The first tactic was to tie it up, to "control" it so "it would not harm you." But the result is that the ghost is still present. Ghosts are often considered to be of a non material nature. So, tying them up to imprison them would not work. And indeed, the ghost freed itself and is shown to be in a harmful capacity. The friend in your dream personifies all the positive qualities you see in her/him and are in fact your own qualities. These qualities will aid you to overcome the old habbit. However, the sword indicates willpower. You can't conquer a ghostly habbit by willpower alone. Since the willpower can't win it urges you to run. Giving into the instinctive flee reaction, of course the willpower needs to move out of the way. But again, running from your ghost is not the solution.
Try to think of that ghostly habbit as a part of yourself that gained an identity and used to be important, that used to be your friend, and all of a sudden it got rejected without an explenation, without knowing why or what has been going on. It is confused and upset and lonely, and does not know where to go.
Tying the ghost up keeps it in place; fighting a ghost only gives it more energy, more excuses to stay; running will only make it chase you. The way to conquer a ghost and get rid of it once and for all, is by giving it peace and insight that it has no place in your life anymore. The one way to give it peace so it can let go is through love. In other words, your fear and anger towards this old habbit of yours gives it control over you. Instead, you should find a way to love your old self, accept that the habbit was born out of a necessity once and was useful for a while. Life is just different now, you are different, so it does not fit anymore. Love your past self as well as your present self.
There are some indicators in the cow-section that pinpoint to 'the passive docile' nature of the cow, exactly because they act the opposite (they bite you after you want them to remain docile, that is shut up) and the dream ends when you act assertively. Perhaps the cow's normal passivity is the old habbit/the ghost? Did you use to be a person who would rather shut up and put up? Another indicator that the docility of the cows used to be your old habbit is that they accompany back to the place of the first part where the ghost used to be, and you are told an investigation is going on... an investigation on what the ghost embodies? So while you are dealing with the cows, your mind is investigating what's up with the ghost, and thi sstrongly suggests your interactions with the cows was the investigation.
What is positively important in this dream is that you act assertively on the one hand, and on the other hand state you're coming back for your belongings and you're not leaving them behind. It would indicate that you came to recognize the ghost for what it was: an old habitual part of you, and something you just can't neglect and leave behind. It seems to me that by the end of the dream you figured out what it was, what it meant to you and that you need to deal with it in another way than you've done so far.
