What I have given you are only some friendly and hopefully helpful suggestions as to what these dream symbols might mean to your dreaming mind.
In the end we are each I believe as individuals the best possible interpreters of the meanings of our dreams, for they are written in the almost unique language of our own unconscious mind (and not somebody else's)
But what they mean to my or your mother's dreaming mind may be in reality quite different from what they mean to your own.
With due respect to your mother, for I am certain that she is only trying to help you to make some sense of what your dreams are trying to tell you, always interpreting every snake seen in your dreams as automatically an enemy is a very negative way of looking at what is in itself a particularly complex symbol, with a multitude of different potential meanings.
For example in some cultures a snake or serpent is regarded as a symbol of spiritual transformation and renewal. If however one sees transformation as an enemy or something to be feared or avoided at all costs, then your mother's idea might be right after all (for her way of thinking, but not necessarily to mine or yours).
Do you understand the point I am attempting to make about the dangers of always accepting other people's interpretations of a specific dream symbol, in preference to your own? If you do fear spiritual transformation as your enemy, then why would you want to put in the necessary time and effort required to make it more likely to happen or to make it happen any faster?
Surely you would often choose to either avoid the challenges being presented to you, and run in the opposite direction as fast as your feet would carry you, or alternately you might prefer to stand firm in one place and resist all efforts made by other people to help you to undergo this process of significant change from within.
This is frequently called the fight or flight response to something which we fear as our enemy or perhaps it is an animal which sees us as it's meal, and is a basic tool which is found in every human being and animal's survival toolbox.
Hoping this helps to make things a little clearer for you,
Cheers 2U,
EoT
