For the past 4 nights I have had the same dream. It always occurs the same way. .....


I'm walking on a curving trail at nightfall. the sun is just setting behind the bluffs. So I know I"m close to home. I walk and walk. It gets darker and darker. On the sides of the trail i hear voices. I hear movement but see nothing but the trees. I come to a large wooden bridge over looking a creek. Floating in the creek are bodies. The faces I see are the faces of people I have lost in the past as well as people I care for deeply. I Run to the end of the bridge and try to fight my way to the creek to save the people that I care for and pull them out. Something grabs me and holds me back. I can't get to them. Suddlenly I'm back on the trail and walking again. Alone in the dark. There is no moon no stars. Just pure black and I stumble over something. I look down and see a huge tree has been snapped and part of it is blocking the trail. I see on the trunk of the tree a name. that name is "ward". this is the last name of my family. I turn and start to run. But I can't find my way home. I finally give up and curl up on the trail and close my eyes. Then I wake up.

Whats this mean?

Dreams are about our unresolved emotions from the conscious state.  The symbols merely signs to help us understand our own emotions.

Trees are often the symbol for family.  And the whole dream was about ancestors and family members.

It would seem you feel pulled, very strongly, into fulfilling some familial dreams and goals.  You are struggling with the issues of doing your own thing, fulfilling your own dreams and doing the family thing.  

There seems to be a lot of family history that sets each generation up.  You are considering breaking a mold.  

Listen to your own heart.

I feel that this is a dream regarding mourning.  The people under the bridge are those from your past you you love and care for.  You want to save those you care about, but it is something you cannot do.  You have crossed the bridge, they have passed from your life and no matter how you fight you can not bring them back.

I also feel that the trail, the winding path, represents your life's path.  It has been blocked, you have stumbled on the large limb of the great Ward family tree that has broken and fallen.  I think you know who that represents.  From this blockage you run.  If you do this you will not find 'home'.  You will in the end 'curl up on the trail' and close your eyes.  That is, you will become lost and most likely give up.

I think it is saying that running from this is not the correct path.

Fascinating, I'd be curious as to what will come out of this.  

Floating bodies represents freedom, here I wonder whether you feel burdened to your family?  The path represents your journey towards life and the bridge your transition to a new beginnings, do you feel you are not getting anywhere?  Is something holding you back?  Trees represents life, to have a trunk is support, I'm not sure about this one whether the support is blocking you from going forwards, or the obstacle to go forwards is blocked because there is no support??

all of your insights are awesome! My family is tight nit we are close. I am seen as a black sheep but not in the traditional way. in the way that I''m more "out there" than the others. I have my own mind and while I treasure what values have been instilled in me i have chosen a diffrent path than the others. I have a huge support from them in every thing I do however there is hesitation on my part. I don't want to push the bar to far. I have killed my own dreams becuase of what they will think. I haven't fully spread my wings and let myself be free.
