I dreamt i was in a long hallway and at the end was a door and a guy, who I don't know and can't see cos the light was behind him and casting a shadow, was standing there. I was holding in my hands a pair of shoes which I knew I had to pass to him. While walking down that hallway, a big brown bat flew next and close to me. But I was not afraid just wondering why it was following me. Than when I reached the end of the hallway and about to pass the shoes to the guy, the bat just lunge and grab the back of my neck. It felt so real that I woked up from the vibrations of the neck muscles reacting to the dream. Is it a bad omen dream?

The bat is frequently seen as being a symbol of the darker or more private side of a dreamer's personality.

This is not necessarily anything evil, but often represents those aspects of one's personality which we would rather others did not discover about us, in case they might not like us because of them.

This has sometimes also been called the "shadow self".

A bat is blind but has a wonderful sense of direction all the same (by means of a mechanism of using extremely high frequency sounds much like using radar). Therefore a bat featuring in your dream may say that you are flying blind through your life, and are being forced to depend entirely on your instincts to get you through.

But the bat is also a symbol of free will or simply freedom itself, by way of it being a winged creature. Either the bat could be interpreted in your dream to mean that you are basically trying your wings and are getting out into the world in order to prove yourself to everyone concerned (including yourself), or alternately perhaps you should really think seriously about doing so.

Yes sometimes when taken in isolation a bat in a dream can represent a black messenger bringing omens or predictions of death, illness or a personal disaster, but it is important not to ignore the many other symbols which are seen in the same dream, whenever attempting to gain a greater understanding of what the bat actually represents to your dreaming mind (which could be something very different from what it may mean to the next person and so on).

You appear to have conveniently forgotten about the hallway, the shoes and the many other elements or symbols of your dream you have failed to mention, as though only the bat really matters to it's overall interpretation.

Do not therefore immediately jump to any premature conclusions that this must be a bad omen dream.

The dream pertains to your mental course of action (hallway), one that seems to be leading to an option (a door) to use a particular idea or way of thinking (represented by the guy).  The guy, represents an aspect of your mind and a way of thinking which appears to be backed or supported by intelligence. (light was behind him) The light behind him, can also imply the intelligence backing a way of thinking belongs in the past.  However, the seeming intelligence backing a way of thinking is also creating a shadow, that is, setting up some grounds of reasoning that is not enlightened. You appear to be holding onto some understanding (shoes) that you feel required to pass onto your mind.    

The bat, being an animal, represents an emotional aspect of yourself from which come certain feelings, motivations or urges. The bat is often associated with the feeling of being batty, that is, feeling that one’s mind is not functioning very rationally, perhaps behaving in an insane, eccentric, or bizarre manner. [Could this be the kind of understanding you are giving to your own mind?] You may need to wonder why this feeling is so persistent. (wondering why it was following me) The bat grabbing your neck would imply perceiving the risk to yourself that comes from having such a feeling. The sensation of the risk coming from feeling a bit crazy should bring you to a greater state of awareness where you do not need to consciously focus on feeling batty.

hi, I agree with the other postings, and I think the subject is about real estate and viewing properties but I can't quite get whether, the bat is saying get real, like your ideas are to out of it, or, the bat might be saying wake up, don't look a gift horse in the mouth, so yeah I'm not sure which, but I think ultimately you will buy(or maybe its just rent, I'm not sure) but yeah you will choose wisely in the end.  

It's a process though, and you will have some realizations along the way - I'm thinking generally it might be that you are too conservative(handing the shoes).

Maybe the bat is a sort of highway robber, waiting to seize upon a passing treasure which it did not earn? The shoes maybe represent some responsibility that you want to pass on to someone who is proven capable, but the bat represents someone who covets this position but does not want to work for it?
