I dreamt i was in a long hallway and at the end was a door and a guy, who I don't know and can't see cos the light was behind him and casting a shadow, was standing there. I was holding in my hands a pair of shoes which I knew I had to pass to him. While walking down that hallway, a big brown bat flew next and close to me. But I was not afraid just wondering why it was following me. Than when I reached the end of the hallway and about to pass the shoes to the guy, the bat just lunge and grab the back of my neck. It felt so real that I woked up from the vibrations of the neck muscles reacting to the dream. Is it a bad omen dream?
Please help.
Namaste,
Roz

The hallway is a room for little purpose asides from moving from one place to another, hence could be interpreted as a symbol of 'transition'.  At your age it is usual to take a shift towards a focus on the internal world, the Hero's journey, the individuation process.  I recommend a google on that.  The first stage of this is 'confrontation with the shadow'.  Sits well in the context of this dream with the shadow at the end of the hall.

You have to give the figure the shoes to get past him and onto the other side of the hallway.  Why?

First, shoe definitions:

In general, shoes represent your approach to life. It suggests that you are well-grounded or that you are down to earth. It also represents your convictions about your beliefs. If you are changing your shoes, then it refers to your changing roles. You are taking a new approach to life. If your forget your shoes, then it suggests that you are leaving restraints behind you. You are are refusing to conform to some idea or attitude. Seeing old and worn shoes in your dream means that through diligence and hard work, you will find success. It may also mean that you have come to grips with accepting who you are. Seeing new shoes in your dream, suggests that you are overconfident in your success. Alternatively you may be on a life path that is unfamiliar to you. Dreaming that you are wearing inappropriate shoes for the activity at hand indicates that your progress and path in life will be laborious and ill-prepared. It may also indicate that you are heading in the wrong direction and need to reevaluate your goals. Dreaming that you are not wearing any shoes means that you have a lack of confidence in yourself and low self-assurance. You may be dealing with issues concerning your self-identity. Thus if you dream that you lose your shoes, then it suggests that you may be searching for your identity and finding/exploring who you are. Seeing baby shoes in your dream, symbolizes purity, innocence, vulnerability, tenderness and the desire for love. If you are planning to have or already have a baby, then it suggests that the baby will or has grounded you. After all, with a baby to tend to, you find yourself rooted at home most of the time and not being able to go out as much.

You are passing your shoes to the shadow.  You need to take your life path to the shadow to get through to the next room?

There is the bat, quite an important symbol of the dream.  Here are some definitions from two sources.

Bat - Some repressed content in your unconscious that may be associated with some early traumatic experience. May symbolize intuitive wisdom. A baseball bat may symbolize male sexuality or aggressiveness. Dreaming of a vampire bat may represent someone or something in your life that is draining your energy.

Dreaming of bats symbolizes uncleanness, demons, and annoyances. Alternatively, bats also represents your need to let go of old habits for your current way of life no longer suits your new growth and outlook. Dreaming of a white bat means death of a family member. Dreaming of a black bat means personal disaster. Dreaming of a vampire bat represents that a person in your life may be draining your of self-confidence and/or your resources.

Since the bat bites you and has a powerful impact on the dream I would say that it sounds like there is something in your life that is sapping your resources to facilitate this encounter with the shadow.

Hope that helps,
Rook

Thanks Rook for the interpretation. The shoes are not mine. It belongs to the unknown guy in the dream. I just had to pass it to him. The bat did not bite me more like grab my neck with its feet and try to enter my body.

Is there some traumatic experience from your childhood that 'grabs you'?  Not litterally but is there some childhood trauma that you feel may be holding you back?  It wouldn't be something you fear, but something that has 'followed' you through your life.  This would be interfering with the integration of the shadow.  That is the symbolism of giving the shadow his shoes.

The whole idea of the individuation process is to come to better terms with who you really are.  A big part of that is acknowledging and integrating our 'dark side'; not necissarily evil, but the parts of us which we deny, the things we repress about ourselves.  By 'giving the shadow shoes' you will be able to get past that which is holding you back, being the bat.  Bats are nocturnal, so I could see the symbol of the bat also being a part of the shadow, something that you deny, have buried in your subconscious, hence it may take a bit of analysis and thought to figure out exactly what it is that is holding you back.

Does that make any sense?

Cheers,

I don't know what it is but I know that there is something that is buried deep in my subconcious that could be related to this. Maybe I need to see a hypnotherapist to help me extract this part that is hidden and get closure. Thanks Rook!
