Well, it was a weird dream. Here goes:

I was apparently the owner of a huge building. Inside was a movie theater, it was a place where people could buy anything and everything they wanted.

Next thing I know is I'm talking with some people. Out of the corner of my eye I see this person with a hood on. I approach him and he pulls out some type of weapon. Next thing I know I pull out a switch blade. The man attacks me. Out of self defence I bring the blade up to the persons next and the blade cuts his throat.

Out of nowhere MY neck is bleeding. My life seems like it is coming to an end yet I force myself to stay there. I'm holding my throat while blood flows everywhere and onto everyone around.

Next thing I know, I wake up. My throat is sore.

Any insight? It's been nagging me for quite some time.
Thanks

Movie theatres in dreams are places where the events of your life are shown to you on an inner screen, often in very graphic detail.

A person's throat is frequently associated with their abilities to express themselves, and cutting a person's throat therefore strongly suggests that you see them as your competition and are therefore suppressing their right to have their own opinions.

Their competition with you is regarded as being "cut throat"?

But by purposely suppressing whoever this person represents in your waking live's right to speak up about what he feeling, you are only unintentionally giving them a power over you that they just do not deserve. By cutting their throat, you are at the same time cutting your own?

Blood in dreams has always been thought to represent a person's life force or motivation to keep going, so trying to artificially gag your competition and stop them from saying exactly what they believe to be true is only likely in the long run to bring you much suffering and leave you feeling exhausted and lacking in any further motivation to clear the air between you.

By making him a victim, you are completely unintentionally also making yourself his victim, and are weakening your own position by your actions?

It is a symbol representing the process of "beating a dead horse", which basically means that the person concerned is attempting to go against the flow and has a seriously uphill battle in front of them. It does not mean that the situation is necessarily hopeless, but it definitely does suggest that they need to take a different approach to their problem in the future, if they want to eventually solve it.

The author wishes to above all emphasise that no living creature large or small (or in this case horse) was in any way harmed during the production or the use of this emoticon.

Thank you! That is a big relief.

Sorry, I am not familiar with the expression you mention. And I confess I am a little sensitive when it comes to animals being mistreated. Glad to know it was just a prop!
