| He has been dreaming strange stuff since the death (murder) of his father. |
This does not necessarily mean that the dreams were directly related to the murder of his own father. It is quite common for the dreaming mind to draw upon our waking experiences and memories in order to weave a story containing important messages to us from our unconscious minds.
Unfortunately very little if any of the additional information you added was included with your original posting. In the future in order to help us better help you, try to make what you are telling us a little clearer, as you are I believe far more likely to get a useful response, sooner rather than much later. In the end you are always the best possible interpreter of your own dreams. I see our role as being to offer you friendly hints and suggestions you may not have yourself considered.

It has been my experience that third part dream interpretations are often nowhere near as accurate as first party ones (where the dreamer makes the request).
Whether it was you who dreamed he was stabbed, or whether instead he dreamed this himself it does suggest to me that his understandable fears that he may be murdered as his father was are being expressed in the form of these dreams/nightmares. They should certainly not be regarded in any way as actual predictions that like father like son he is also destined to be murdered in real life as his father was.
It could alternately mean though that he feels he is an unwilling victim of his current life circumstances, and that presently he does not see any easy way to escape this.
