I have been having the same dream for as long as I can remember - however.... when I say "same", I really mean sequential.
I'll set the scene up: It is during a period of time when war is going on, I would suppose from the house and clothes and the fact there are slaves working in the house, the time period would be in the 1800s. There is a beautiful three story antebellum house - you probably know the type ... huge columns accenting the front of the house - you walk in and there is a grand forum with a massive chandelier, and me in a dress right out Gone With the Wind.....
As you walk into the foyer, to the right there is a panel which is actually a hidden door. When you open the panel and walk in, there is a plain wooden staircase - no wallpaper, no paint like the rest of the house. This is the 'skeleton" of the house. Now, as you start climbing the stairs, there are small doorways with no doors - I think there's about 3 or 4 of these opening. Each room is small and can only hold the basic needs... a mattress, a chamber pot (a potty pot) a small mirror on the wall, a kerosene lamps and a pitcher and bowl for washing off.
It's pretty obvious in the dream that I have no family and the place is mine. The hidden rooms are used to hide AWOL soliders, regardless of which side they were fighting on.
I only have this dream once or twice a year and it always picks up where the last dream left. I never see the color of the uniforms nor the face of any of the slaves and other than the kitchen, I don't think I could tell what the other rooms look like because I am always tending to the wounded....
~so, whatd'ya think?
