There are literally thousands of states of consciousness between us being asleep and fully awake. Auditory hallucinations such as hearing our own name called are surprisingly very common, and may have no underlying meaning or deeper purpose.

However in your case, this is obviously not so, as both the voice and the direction from which the voice seemed to come immediately reminded you of a special person in your life, whom you are fond of. Or was it perhaps the voice of someone whom you are especially fond of (but have not yet made your true feelings known to her) that you would dearly love to share your hopes and dreams with?

I suppose that the sceptics with their closed minds would put this all down to your own wishful thinking that she cares about you just as much as you care about her, but in my opinion I feel that the voice is an outward expression of your own longing to get to know her better in your waking life. I do not feel that this experience was in any way mediumistic - that is that the voice was that of a spirit communicator.
