I have very vivid dreams of a boyfriend I had a long time ago. I can smell him, and feel his skin, and the heat from his body. They are not usually sexual but some have been. We are ususally just hanging out together. It feels so natual and right. When I wake up I almost expect to see him. The relationship was terminated by my parents because he was the wrong color. He lives in Arizona now and we talk frequently over the phone. He knows about these dreams and he thinks they are neat, but he does not have any dreams of me that are so real. He has just normal dreams. I feel so weird about these and wonder if this is normal?

What dreams could be regarded as being "normal" for you might not be to somebody else. However I do not feel that having these types of dreams is in any way unhealthy, and they may be your dreaming mind's way of offering you some cold comfort by showing you what might have been if he had been of an acceptable colour to your parents.

Honestly in your case, I do not see it as being any form of consolation for you to be constantly shown this over and over again (I feel that is is cruel to do so), as I do not see you as presently having any opportunities to improve the situation and get together with him while you are still being so heavily influenced by the opinions of your parents when your profile says that you are 53 years old. You talk frequently over the telephone with him, but do you wish to have a relationship with him instead in person regardless of what your parents might think, now that you are both yourselves considerably older? Are your parents both still alive, as if they are not you could be carrying around with you their values about the colour of a man's skin, as a type of "inner parent".

You obviously still think a lot about him. Remember too that just because he doesn't remember all his dreams (few of us do) it doesn't mean he doesn't have them and you don't "meet up" spiritually.
