For the first time in ages i just had the most vivid dream ever. I started this dream after hearing a vivid shout earlier in the evening that i thought was my mother calling my name but it wasn't, i called her up to see if she was ok because i was so sure she was in trouble but she was fine but it took me ages to fall asleep and im wondering if that may have had a bearing on this too.

To help understand context, i have been watching a lot of the TV series NCIS lately and it was the characters in there who were the symbols of people in my dream.

I dreamt that i was kidnapped and taken to a place that looked a lot like my mothers house. I was given truth serum and in order to check if it had worked, the kidnapper came out of the house with a bottle of body oil and i knew he meant to sleep with me. I ran and he laughed because he knew the serum hadn't worked yet. I ran up the steps in the back garden and when i reached the top i suddenly stopped and turned and he was there and he asked me 'are you leaving jethro' (the lead character in NCIS) and i said in a whisper 'Yes i'm leaving' and he lifted my hand and kissed it and i stroked his face and suddenly i loved my kidnapper who i called Ari (after a bad character in NCIS) because i was sure he loved me and was going to protect me.

Then I woke up and i cant think of anything else but Ari, he's dominating my thoughts and i can't seem to think straight.

Thanks for reading

Hi sephrinia-

Interesting you had a dream along the lines of Stockholm syndrome... with the characters of NCIS in it and you were one of the characters in the show...

I would hazard a guess that you are in a situation you probably know you shouldn't be in but you are anyway because you feel some sense of duty or loyalty, when your subconscious tends to disagree with you on it. You wouldn't happen to be in a relationship with someone currently and feeling you have put so much time into it that you owe it to yourself or to them to stick around and it would be unfair to leave, would you? It sounds like something along those lines... it doesn't necessarily mean it is a love interest, it could be a friendship, a position you hold within a company, some type of commitment you feel you need to keep when you have outlived or outgrown them and need to move on... but you are comfortable and change is scary or not something you are looking forward to if you let whatever it is you need to let go. That's what holding you back... what comes after you let go remains a mystery but you have most likely painted a scenery for yourself of what it might possibly be. But the only way you will find out is if you do... or you can remain comfortable where you are and know there is something more out there for you and never experience it.

I hope this was helpful

Dear Sephrinia,

To my very good friend Angelique's excellent interpretation of your dream of being kidnapped (which I fully agree with and support), could I please also add the following?

Kidnapping

"The main theme in abduction dreams is fear. The dreamer may be afraid of losing a very important part of himself or of losing his safest and most familiar surroundings. Also, the dreamer may be afraid of leaving his home, childhood, familiar support group, or long standing ideas................ "
