Hello all,

I am new here. I found this website through google as I was looking for a place where I can talk about this one dream I keep having. I have it in different forms but it always comes down to the same thing.

I dream that I am living with my old landlady, I used to live there from when I was 18 to I think 23 or that I am living at my best friends parents house, I lived there too for a while about three years. I might add I wasnt happy there and have never felt at home or safe anywhere until I got my own appartment.
Anyway so I dream Im in the past living somewhere I used to live and Im not happy, I feel stuck and I don´t know how to get my own place.
Or I dream I have my own place but the landlady or someone else tells me I have to move out and find a new home or move back in with my parents, this always freaks me out enormously.
Or I dream that I have to live with my parents again which is horrible and then suddenly I remember I have my own place and go there but somehow in my dream thats hard to do.
Or I dream I don´t have anywhere to stay and am living here and there.

So all these dreams revolve around homes and not having one or losing one.
I am always terribly releaved when I wake up and find that I am safe in my own appartment.
I had a bad chilhood and wonder if this dreaming is related to the trauma of never being safe or loved until I got my own place.

Any idea´s, thoughts are most welcome.

Right now the only thing I can think of is how "home" is linked to a person.  Usually dreaming about home, like one you used to live in, signifies security, basic needs and values.  The fact that you keep leaving that place of comfort could resemble some part of your life you don't feel secure in.   Somehow in your dreams you're either being taken away from your comfort zone, or living in your comfort zone.  At the same time, it could be flashbacks, and that memory still bothers you.

To feel trapped means that you feel confined and restricted in a friendship, career or romantic relationship. It could also mean that your rivals will get the best of you if you are not careful.  Though, I think the first meaning could fit well.  Try to analyze some parts of your life to see if any of this fits.  It could just be those flashbacks, however.
