Hi all, first time here...had a strange dream last night...was about to get on an escalator (going down), when, the person in front of me, who was in a wheelchair, suddenly gets off the wheelchair and seems to leap off onto the escalator and falls all the way down. I panic but am stable enough to scream for help and press the "stop" emergency button to try to stop the escalator. I remain at the top, shaken, while security and others try to help the man at the bottom, but apparently it is too late because they place him in a black body bag and even a priest in robes (white robe w/ colored sash?) comes by? Prior to this I had a nice dream about a friend, then suddenly it turned to this. Help please! thanks!

To see an escalator in your dream, indicates movement between various levels of consciousness. If you are going down the escalator, then it implies repression and descent back into your unconscious.  It may be indication of a setback.

As for you seeing a disabled person in your dream who feel to his untimely death, the interpretation depends mainly on how or where the person was disabled. Disabilities include blindness (involving the eyes and what they are believed to symbolise) while many disabilities are hidden, but no less real.

A man in a wheelchair has presumably lost at least the use of his own legs which are normally regarded as being symbolic of the ability of the person represented by the disabled dream person in waking life to move in a forward direction or make real progress.

Also, not having a leg to stand on (please excuse this play on words which is probably in bad taste) is frequently associated with a person lacking any basis for the claims that he is making as part of an argument or conflict.

Death itself in a dream strongly suggests to me that someone (possibly you) is entering upon a phase of significant life transformation, and that in order to make room for exciting new challenges ahead he first needs to "die" to his old ways of thinking about and doing things.

I very much doubt that if you do have a disabled friend or family member in real life, that this dream is in any way a premonition of their physical death (as I sense that this possibility was your major concern, which lead to you posting this urgent plea for help).

Does any of this seem especially relevant to what might be currently going on in your life, and do you have any clues yet as to which specific male person the disabled man in your dream may symbolise (if not yourself)? Could I please add that the disabled man in your dream might also quite possibly represent the up until now highly repressed male aspects of your own personality? According to what your dream appears to be saying, the time is now or never for you to begin to more fully express the predominantly outgoing, active and expansive male aspects of your overall female personality.

If you do not I suppose allow this to occur, it may possibly prevent you from being able to move on to a new phase in your life journey as easily as it might have been if the male aspects of your personality were allowed to be openly expressed and even encouraged.

Hoping that this may have been of some assistance to you, but in the end you are always the best possible interpreter of your own dreams.

Thank you for your reply to my dream!

I totally forgot I posted help for this dream until yesterday. 3 days after I posted my dream, I ended up getting fired from my job for no reason at all. The job was actually killing me and I hated it, but I had been there for so long (six years) and needed the money, so I stayed. Then, I got fired, sort of illegally too (the boss was a nutjob, says that my attendance was causing them stress, which, I would only take off for emergencies to take my mother to her many surgical procedures and I would use leave time too). So your interpretation,  was spot on, dare I say dead right. I guess it was a premonition though I didn't realize it at that time. I hope that this will be a step forward in my life, to leave that horrible job behind and start something new and better than I ever imagined. Thanks again. You rock!

Thanking you sincerely for your feedback, and for your very kind words of appreciation.

Although your ex boss used your caring for your mother as a lame excuse to fire you (which is actually illegal discrimination where I come from), in a way he did you a great personal service by releasing you from a job you hated, so that you could then move on to something much better. I really do hope that your next boss will show some more human compassion and flexibility towards you with reference to your working hours, in having to provide your mother with ongoing support.

The differences between interpreting another person's dream and on the other hand giving them a formal reading sometimes become very vague to me as a reader, and I just cannot seem to help myself at times in seeing things within what you wrote that are not included in any general dream dictionaries.

Kindest regards,
