Why should you frequently (never always) dream about your future?
Because like everyone to a degree you possess the psychic gift of prophecy or of having premonitions of the future within your dreams. Note that these are premonitions of only one of several possible personal futures, as your future is largely not set in stone and consequently it is being reshaped and remoulded now by your own thoughts and actions in the present moment, your only true point of power. This means that you currently have several potential futures and that the final one which eventually comes to pass will be greatly determined by what decisions you make in the present moment.
Why when you consciously attempt to use your prophetic gifts does it almost invariably go wrong?
Because these abilities come from your unconscious mind which by definition is outside of your conscious waking awareness. If you consciously attempt to force it to work as you want it to, then you are effectively putting a major barrier into place which will prevent your unconscious from carrying out it's task as it was designed to do?
This is however completely different from giving yourself gentle subconscious suggestions before you drift off to sleep that you will not only remember the contents of this night's dreams (to be jotted down in your dream diary and carefully dated for future reference), but that you are also interested in learning about what the future holds for you in general. Try above all not to have any preconceptions as to what you may discover from these prophetic dreams. Unfortunately, most prophetic dreams are largely of a negative or disaster nature. This I believe is because strong negative emotions tend to send a much larger psychic echo or signal backwards in time than happier, positive events do.
