Hi, can anyone out there shed any light on this recurring nightmare i used to have.  I've had nightmares ever since childhood, but none as bad as this was.  It all started just before I got married.  (was married 14 yrs & now been seperated for 4).  The dream always took place in the bedroom and reflected any changes made to the room, for example, if we decorated this change was in the dream.  It would start with something pulling me out of bed and then i was being pulled up towards the ceiling where i knew something that was pure evil was waiting.  Just before i reached the ceiling i would wake up and then try to wake my husband, but sometimes it wasn't him and i would be very scared.  Then i would wake up for real, terrified!  The only differences in the dream were that sometimes before i was pulled out of bed, i would feel something clawing at my back. It got to the point where i dreaded having the dream in case i got to find out what was waiting for me near the ceiling.
The strange thing was that when i joined the Baptist church i went for counselling with a christian counsellor (for marriage probs).  I told her about the dream cause i was beginning to believe the evil was real.  She had a priest come in and annoint me with oil.  After this, although i still sometimes had the dream, the evil was gone.  I no longer have the dream, but i still don't know what it meant and to this day i wonder if the overwhelming sense of evil was real. Anyone had a similar dream or got any ideas?  By the way, i've looked in all the usual places for an interpretation but can't find anything to explain it. Thanks

Maybe it was a real haunting.  You should look into the home and see if someone died there.  If you are floating in a dream it means you will succeed, so are you afraid of succeeding?  Was there something bad that would happen as the outcome of what you succeeded in?  Maybe your husband was sick and when you didn't see him, but some one else, it meant he had passed away with this disease.

If the dream haunted you that had in your sleep, I still could have been a ghost or haunting.  Do you live on a faultline?  There are always paranormal experiences on fault lines especially when there are earthquakes.

Hi Deucalion-

First, I would like to say I love the wolf... he's beautiful.

Now, dreams within dreams... and dreams, within dreams, within dreams are maddening - especially when you are quite aware in your dream you are dreaming and trying to get out of it!!! I get a sense that although it was a dream, it was very real. I don't know how to describe it, I've had them myself, it's almost like it is an alternate universe but it's reality caught in a dream.

Whatever it was I believe you are on target.

I'll share a little experience with you and of course whomever reads this. You can think I'm nuts if you will, that's ok. When I was about 17 years old I had a similar experience, dreaming within dreams and they were recurring only in the fact that it was always one particular winged demon, life sized, and by no means human looking who played a major part of tormenting me, trying to terrify me (and it always worked) and abuse me anyway he could. He became a reality when I needed to talk about these disturbing dreams because I was afraid to sleep because every time I did there he was. I was discussing the dreams with a close group of friends who didn't believe in this type of thing. He did not show himself to me, but he let me know these weren't just dreams by telling me he planned on continuing to torture me anyway he could. He did this by voice only and I had friends with me that heard it the same moment I did and it scared the living hell out of them as it did me. In fact, it was around 10 or 10:30 at night that we all scurried into a car and drove to the local church banging on the door to let us in, even two of my friends who are jewish and don't believe in that kind of stuff wanted to get in.

I'd say this happened more often that not until I was around 24 or 25? But I had resolved that he could only hurt me psychologically and perhaps spiritually and my fear fed him. That was his main staple. I came up with a game plan to be aware and on guard in my dreams which is where I always saw him to fight back and not take it. Eventually, with practice a lot of stamina and many years finally I was able to turn the tables on him and I had the upper hand, and I won and that infuriated him. He would come back with a vengeance and challenge me again and again only to get beat down by me again and again and again. Until one day he finally gave up. The day I knew he gave up was when I was against a wall with no where to turn or run and in the dream he had an army with him, the entire sky was blackened with thousands of winged demons like himself. As they closed in on me I was feeling like "Oh shit... I'm done for" but I just stood there keeping in mind this was a dream, this is what they feed off of, fear and I stood with resolve and as they drew closer, I spotted my little friend in the crowd coming at me and he smiled and he changed right before my eyes into an angel and he presented me with a specific gift, it was a child. The others did not change, they remained the same, they surrounded me but they weren't there to harm me and I felt they respected me, I had earned it. When he gave me that gift I knew what it meant when I woke up, and it was a gift unfortunately I had to give back.

I see him every now and again in my dreams, he is not grotesque as he once was but he is the same. Oddly enough when I do encounter those similar to him, which is not often at all, he defends me and fights by my side.

What was my point to all of this? They feed off fear, negative emotions and feelings. It is rare that they can actually physically hurt you, though it can happen. Be smart, don't be afraid, and don't do anything stupid without thinking it through first. If you give it thought, the time of day, acknowledgment you are giving it energy to feed off of and that's all it needs to gain access. I'm glad a priest or a minister anointed you and said a prayer over you. As for now, I would say let lying dogs rest.
Thanks

Hi guys, thanks for your comments.  I don't think anyone died in the house, but I'm not really sure if it was haunted or if it was my imagination.  I believe we had a ghost cat, cause both of my sons woke up on different nights feeling a cat on their chests.  Thinking it was our cat, they turned the light on only to find there was nothing there.  Also, one night when i got up to go to the loo, i stepped over what i thought was our cat lying on the landing, again only to find that when i turned the light on there was nothing there.  The only other strange thing was that for about 1 week each october, i would feel nervous about going upstairs at night and I could swear that during the night i could hear footsteps on the landing.  No one else heard or felt anything, so i put it down to my imagination.  One night i got up to use the loo (i get up several times in the night) and glanced down the stairs (the bathroom door was at the top of the stairs) and i could swear i saw a man standing at the bottom, only i couldn't make out his face.  I just knew however that it was my dad.  He would have no reason to haunt me or frighten me as he died when i was only 4.  I don't know about the floating meaning success, as it was not like floating,  more like being dragged against my will.  I agree i should let sleeping dogs lay, but although it's now several years since i last had the dream, i do sometimes wonder about it.  I guess what i really mean is that if the evil entity was real, will it ever come back?  For a while i used to wonder if the evil was in me, as i've always been interested in the supernatural etc, and my mum who i had a rocky relationship with used to tell me that i was wicked and evil.  Anyway, thanks a lot guys, you've been a big help and i'll now try to forget all about it.

It's funny that you had a ghost cat.  That must be a common thing because I moved away for the first time ever being away from my family and I had one too.  This one would scratch at the door to get me to let it out of the bedroom or to let it in.  I would get up and turn the light on so I could open the door, but the real cat was still sleeping with me on the bed.  This happened a lot when I lived in the house.  I was older (32 or 33 years old) and never lived far from my family, so I'll guess that is why.  I never figured out what the cat meant.

I agree with you on fear feeding the problem.  If you calm down nothing will harm you if it's not real.  I'm not sure about making friends with something that tried to hurt me once, but if it worked then why worry?  If you let it, fear can bring terrible things to reality.

If you were being unwillingly dragged up, maybe you were under pressure to achieve success by someone else.  Maybe they threw you into some very pressurous problems, but you dealt with them well or someone made you deal with them and wanted badly for you to succeed in something you didn't want.

If they don't happen anymore, then that is good enough.
