In my personal opinion all three factors could be responsible for such a significant change in your dream patterns, to varying but yet unknown extents.
The frequency and types of our dreams often change as we show our subconscious minds both through our actions and words that we are interested in developing more as both a spiritual and human being (getting to better know our true selves) and your Wiccan studies and beliefs are surely an expression of your unique inner nature (the way in which you choose to make sense of your life experiences).
I have never smoked and there is absolutely no chance of me starting now as I am a moderate asthmatic with severe multiple chemical sensitivities, but from my personal experience of having taken large dosages of antihistamines to treat my allergies over so many years, when I accidentally miss a tablet it is as though all the dreams that I could not remember even having over the intervening years must now ALL be experienced on the same night!!!!
ARGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
In other words, certain prescribed medications can somehow suppress the Rapid Eye Movement (REM) phase of sleeping where we normally dream (as in my case with antihistamines), while others can evidently not only increase the frequency of our dreams (stimulate REM), but may also in fortunately rare cases lead to the person suffering hallucinations while still wide awake. They could also in theory cause you to remember your dreams more easily throughout the day.
That being said, I sense that the "dream" of your mother who had passed 16 years before was a genuine spirit communication, and not simply an hallucination caused by you taking the anti-smoking pill. Not every psychic dream or vision is an hallucination. Some may be, but certainly not ALL of them.
