I had the same dream when I was pregnant and the midwife was Ken Simple (can - simple).
What does Cats mean to you?
You could be birthing an idea or project that is independent like a cat.
Was the birth painful etc?

Since new born cats are referred to as kittens, your dream pictorially reflects the expression, “having kittens”. This expression refers to having an emotional outburst. (Animals in general represent the emotional aspect of oneself and note how cats are usually born in litters – more than one at a time, thus implying a lot of emotional output.)
What we give birth to is generally “a baby”, which implies coming up with a new idea that can relate to a new project or a new concept about someone or even to literally, the idea of having a baby. A new idea coming in animal form would thus also imply an idea that actually demeans your human nature. This is so because the animal is not a rational body. The human form is.
Thus the dream can be indicating that a new idea you have is much too emotional in nature to do you any honour. {Do you have a new project or concept etc.?} Or – the dream can simply be commenting on some overly emotional reactions or tendencies to be too emotional – which again is not a compliment to a rational human. {Have you reacted too strongly to something recently or perhaps had a temper tantrum. You may need to exert more control over this emotional way of reacting.}
