I can't remember the last time I had a dream!  Is that normal.

 Hi, mhouse!

Yes, it's very normal.  In fact it doesn't mean you don't dream, just that you don't remember your dreams.  Everyone experiences REM sleep.

You may feel a bit "left out", but you're not the only one: I've talked to lots of people who say they have no dream memories at all, and many think that means they don't dream.  But they do, and so do you - they just don't remember it.

Look at all the worries people have about their dreams, and forget it!

Best wishes,
Tish

Tish is correct, we always dream about anything but sometimes we don't remember.

The vivid dreams we remember and talk about are REM dreams
But people also have NREM dreams, which occur during NREM sleep (Foulkes, 1996).

Sleep researchers have learned sleepers have the best recall of a dreamif they are awakened during the dream; the more time passes after the dream ends, the poorer the recall (Kleitman, 1960).

REM dreams: Having a dream-like and story-like quality, the type of dreams that occurs almost continuously during each REM period; more vivid, visual, emotional and bizarre than NREM dreams.
NREM dreams: Mental activity occurring during NREM sleep that is more thought-like in quality than REM dreams are.

Have you ever experienced a lucid dream, one during which you were aware that you were dreaming? Just a few people possess this ability. Some lucid dreamers claim they are able to change the course of a dream while it is in progress, and others virtuosos claim to able to dream about any topic at will (Gackenbach & Bosveld, 1989; La Berge, 1981)

I ever since I was little could control my dreams and are very aware that I am in a dream state. Even better, I have had dreams that I knew I called out for people close to me brought them into the dream and the next day they were telling everyone about our shared dream. I have had my share of horrors between dreams and nightmares, but have you ever dreamt you awoke to be attacked then reawoke mutiple times to expierence the same thing again. Example: An American Werewolf in London from the 80's. Only had that happen a few times, thank goodness.

I read a book years ago about dreams and it talked about how even if we don't remember our dreams we have/experience like 10-20 dreams a night or somewhere along that line. But maybe its a good thing you know like "no news is good news" especially if u have bad dreams. lol
