The sun suggests masculine energy. The moon, feminine. In the alchemical tradition, the goal was to unite the two in the "hermaphroditic divine child". Also significant is the left & right placement. The left hemisphere of the brain is the logical/rational/masculine side. The right is the intuitive/creative/feminine side. I suggest that your dream was conveying to you a very powerful symbol. Examine your life and see where these two polarities of energy (masculine & feminine) are not in balance. The moon is higher than the sun? Have you repressed your animus? (read Jung)

There are many theories and all are valid theories.
The sun represents vital energy, and refers to masculine power.
In Japanese Shinto belief the sun is feminine and is personified by the goddess amaterasu, the spirit of the universe. The moon
is a feminine symbol and personified by goddesses Ishtar, Hathor and Artemis. Also, in some cultures such Iceland, Maori of
New Zealand, Eskimo, India and Japanese Shinto the moon is masculine ~Egyptian God Min~ From ancient belief the moon has
been associated as the source of fertility and life. In Australian aboriginal belief, the moon is masculine and is also associated with
fertility making women pregnant. The moon also represents the astral plane in metaphysics.
Sigmund Freud believed that dreams function to satisfy unconscious sexual and aggressive wishes. Because such wishes are
unacceptable to the dreamer, they have to be disguised and therefore appear in dreams in symbolic form.
The new trend is a major shift away from old Freudian theories and
beliefs of interpretation of dreams. Now the focus is on the
manifest content, the actual dream itself, rather than on the research for symbols that can be decoded to reveal some
inner conflict.
The symbols in dreams when analyzed, are know perceived as being specific to the individual rather than a collective
standard or universal meanings for all dreamers.
J. Allan Hobson (1988) rejects the notion that nature would equip us with a capability and a need to dream that only a specialist
could interpret.
But Hobson (1989) believes our dreams have a psychological significance because they are woven from our personal experiences,
remote memories and ‘associations, drives and fears’
The faces in the image are mirror images; right handed people tend to see the face on the left as the happy face. If you are right
handed, you are likely to perceive the emotional tone reveled by the part of the face to your left as you view it (McGee & Skinner, 1987).
The right hemisphere processes information from the left visual field, so right handed people tend to be more emotionally affected
by the left side of the faces they view.

Thanks Lorin !!! Thanks starmoon !!!
We are discussing on Sun, Moon and realated Energies. But what is the Emphasis of the River which is just below them and is also flowing towards me as I am on one shore.
"Normally River is considered to be Flow of Life". Personally, I feel it to be related with some Spiritual Context.
